PATENT OFFICE OF EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY KEY CONTAINER 7 Application filed August 24, 1928. Serial No. 301,822.
The
tainer. V
An object of the present inventionis to make an improved and simplified key conpresent invention relates to a key conis tainer. In order to attain these objects'there is provided, in accordance with one feature of the invention, a plurality of rigid plates having key supporting means carried thereby, said plates being connected to a flexible as to be foldable one upon the other to reduce the area occupied by said container.
These and other features of the invention will be more fully brought out in the'follow- .15 ing description and the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1, is a view in front elevation of one,
form of the invention. Figure 2, 1s a View in perspective of the device in a folded condition, and
Figure 3, is a vlew'in perspective of the device in open condition showlng one method of supporting keys thereon.
Referring to the drawings in detail:
A flexible cover member C has secured to each side thereof a rigid plate A secured to the flexible cover member as by means of rivets 11. In the present construction the metal I plates are shown connected to each i other by me'ansof a hinge connection 2 so as to be folded one upon the other as shown in Figure 2, to reduce the width of the device when folded for placing in the pocket. The
upper end of each of the plates A is bent pin 3 upon which key sup- 5 are'mounted. These key porting members supporting members comprise a wire member 6 havinga looped upper portion 7 which en Y circles the pin 3 4:0 portion 8 upon and a hook shaped lower which a key 12 may he threaded.
The cover member 0 extends beyond the i right hand rigid plate A as shown to provide aflap which maybe brought over the edge of 5 the device when folded and secured as by means of snaps 9 and 10 to hold the device in a folded condition. y
The device is approximately one-half as 1 wide as a key container having a single rigid plate of the combined width of the plates here key support members carried b shown and having the same numberof key supports and also requires considerablyless material from which to form the cover member. This may be an important item when the more expensive materials are used for the making of these cases.
. While a specific type of hinge and key support are illustrated and described it is not desired to limit the invention to any specific constructionof either of these portions of the device since it would be a simple manner for any one skilled in the art to modify these old and well known features of the device without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the hereto appended claim.
I claim:
A key container of the character described comprising a flexible cover member, a pair of hingedly connected plates connected adjacent an edge of said cover, a plurality of each of said plates said flexible cover being foldable in the axis of pivotal movement of said hingedly connected plates, and snap means to secure said cover in a folded condition to enclose said hingedly connected plates and keys supported thereby.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
