4 Claims.
This invention relates to cosmetic kits. and more particularly to the construction of the cosmetic container and the arrangement of the cosmetic materials within the container as hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of this invention is to provide a cormetic kit in which a plurality of cosmetic materials are arranged in a compact container so that each cosmetic unit is equally accessible to the user.
A further object of this invention is to provide a cosmetic kit in which a durable container is provided with a combination of cosmetic materials compactly mounted within said container.
A further object of this invention is to provide a cosmetic container in which the cosmetic materials are mounted or affixed to a central body member that is rotatable within the container.
A further object of this invention is to provide a device of a type described which is extremely simple in construction and which makes a compact kit wherein all cosmetic units are readily carried in a womans purse.
A further object of this invention is to provide a cosmetic container holding all the necessary cosmetics in their proper relationship so that any one cosmetic unit is readily accessible.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a cosmetic container of the type described in which one or more cosmetic materials may be equally and quickly replaced without affecting the cosmetic materials already mounted within the unit.
A further obiect of this invention is to provide a cosmetic kit in which all the necessary cosmetics are contained in a compact tightly closed container and in which any one or all cosmetics are easily accessible to the user.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the specification and drawings, and the novel features of this invention Will be particularly pointed out in the ap ended claims.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the cosmetic kit,
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional View taken through the longitudinal center of the kit illustrated in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the central body member.
Referring to Fig. 1 there is illustrated a cosmetic container is which comprises a body member l I mounted rotatably within an outer shell l2 with two hinged end covers I3 and M. In addition, a hinged cover I5 is provided in the outer shell l2.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the construction and relation of the various parts may be followed in which the cosmetic holder body l i is rotatably secured within the outer shell l2 and in which the hinged end covers l3 and M are shown. The cover I 4 is hinged to an end plate i6 and the hinged cover i3 is aflixed to an end plate I l. The end plates I6 and H are securely aifixed to the end faces is and IQ of the body l i. The end faces 18 and [9 are provided with equal radii circular ends which provide circular bearing surfaces 20 and 2! on which the outer shell 52 is mounted, thus it is apparent that the body l l and the two hinged end covers l3 and M will be inter connected and the outer shell IE will be rotatable with relation to the body and end covers. the outer shell l2 having two end apertures that mate with circular bearing surfaces 2!! and 25 of the body H. As illustrated in Fig. 1, the outer shell 12 is provided with two pivot pins 22 and 23 on which a hinged cover I5 is mounted. Two light springs 24 and 25 are provided to urge the cover l5 towards an open position, while a snap fastener 25 is mounted centrally on the outer edge of the cover l5 to mate with a cut-out portion on the inner face of the outer shell I2 when the cover !5 is closed, thus retaining the cover in a closed relationship with the outer shell l 2.
Referring to Fig. 4 and Figs. 2 and 3, the body member If is illustrated as having four equal area sides 30, 31,32 and 33 with circular ends 18 and I9, as already described. A circular bore 34 is provided through the center of the body member II. It will be noted that the four sides of the body member 5 l are provided with a plurality of cavities of various shapes. The side 3%? is provided with three equal area circular cavities in which cosmetics may be mounted directly or in which cosmetics mounted in circular trays may be forced into these cavities. Likewise, the side 3| is provided with a square cavity and a large rectangular cavity in which cosmetics may also be directly mounted or also may be mounted in trays and forced into said cavities. The sides 32 and 33 are each provided with equal rectangular cavities in which cosmetics may similarly be mounted. The bore 34 is utilized, as indicated in Fig. 2, by mounting a lip stick 36 which fits within the hinged cover 53. Likewise, a loose powder container 38 may be inserted in the opposite side of the bore 34 so that the sieve or open end faces the hinged cover M. The open end of the powder container 38 may also be provided with a hinged cover 39 to insure retaining the powder in a tightly sealed container. The hinged cover I4 may be provided with a powder puff 49, as indicated.
Various arrangements of the cosmetics may be made in the body member II, according to the fancy of the user. However, the drawings now illustrate a preferred form in which a large cake of solid powder compressed into a so called pancake make-up may be mounted in the cavity 4| of side 3|, while a sponge is mounted in the cavity 42. Likewise, a mascara brush may be mounted in the cavity 43 of the side 32, while the mascara is mounted in the :cavity 44. When a mascara brush is mounted means such as a spring clamp- 45, will be provided to clamp or positively hold the brush within the cavity 43. Likewise, apake of rouge and a puff may be similarly mounted inside 33 in the two equal cavities. In similar fashion eye shadow or powdered perfume may be mounted in the circular cavities 46, 4'! and d8 of the side 30. In all instances, the puffs or loose articles shall be retained in their position by a clip or spring to maintain them in their set position when inserted.
Referring to Fig. l the hinged cover it may have a polished surface 59 or a mirror may be mounted to the surface to provide the necessary reflection for the vanity case.
It is apparent in use that the cosmetic kit it may be filled with a plurality of cosmetic materials as already described and, likewise, any and all materials are easily removable for refilling, The container is so constructed that the user may readily position the particular cosmetic to be used. In the event the lip stick is to be the hinged cover 53 is opened and the lip stic; 3? easily withdrawn from the bore and the user may open the cover to position the reflector in a readily accessible position. Likewise, if the user desires to use loose powder the hinged cover it may be opened and the puff 49 may be removed. Elie sieve or open end of the container 3%: is then opened to apply powder to the puff it for use. In similar fashion the user may open the cover #5 and by rotating either of the ends E3 or it may position one of sides of the body member i E. A detent es may be provided on the inner surface of the outer shell 12 to snap into one of the plurality of detention holding means 55, thus providing a positive stop for each of the sides of the body member t i, thus when a side of the body member 1! is positioned to present the desired cosmetic which, as illustrated in Fig. 1, would be eye shadow or perfume in cake fol-r". Similarly the user may turn either end i3 or to present the pancake makeup or the mascara brush and cake or the rouge and puff.
It is apparent that the construction of the kit, as described, and as illustrated in Figs. 1 through 4, provides all the necessary features of a vanity kit and various modifications or changes ma be made without departing from the spirit of this invention and this invention shall be limited only gle hinged cover, said bod extending through said casing at each end thereof, a pair of end plates attached to the circular shaped ends of said body, two hinged covers ailixed at either end to the end plates, one on each exposed end of said body, means to hold cosmetics mounted on each of a plurality of faces of said body so that any one face is easily accessible through said single hinged opening.
