W. KENNISH.
MUUILAGB REGEPTAGLE. N0. 252,603. Patented Ja11.24 ,1882.
Ummm STATES PATENT rtree@ VVILLIM KENNISH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SIDNEYl O. THOMP- SON, .OF SAME PLACE.
lVIUCILAGE-RECEPTACLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 252,608, dated January 24, 1882.
Application tiled September 12, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may coigoern:
Be itknown that. I, WILLIAM KENNISH, of New York, in the county of New York and State ot' New York, have invented a new and 5 useful Il nprovement in Mueilngelteeeptacles,
of'whieh the following is a t'ull, clear, land eX- aet deseiiption.
The object of my invention is to provide receptacles for mueilage with a deviee for semp- Io ing oft'surplus guin from the brush when it is withdrawn from the vessel.
In thedrawings herewith accompanying, Figure 1 is a vertical section ot' a mueilage-bottle furnished with mydeviee'. Fig.2 is a view 15 ot' the eover tilted to show the spring d, comb d', and the brush as it is being withdrawn. Fig. 3 is a View of the cover, with rim partly broken away to show the plain spring d.
A is a cylindrical jar, ot -any suitable subzo stance, preferably of metal or glass.
a is the cover, eonsistingof a rim and a top, which may be east or stamped from one piece of material, a hole being eut through the een` ter for the passage ot' the brush.
d is a comb, the teeth being formed in one z5 end of a thin band of spring metal, the other end being fastened by soldering or otherwise to the under side ofthe cover, as shown.
d is also a band of spring metahfastened in the same manner as d to the cover, and is for 3o the purpose of keeping the brush up to the comb, thereby facilitating the removal of the gum. 1t may also be toothed, if found to be desirable.
The advantage offered by a comb overa 35 scraper with an unserrated edge is that it requires less force to remove the excessive mueilage, and will consequently Iadmit of a spring weak enough to be readilyv opened bythe brush when pushed back.
I claim- In a mueiluge-receptztele, comb d,in combination with spring d, attached to the cover of a vessel, as shown and described.
WILLI'AM KENNSH.
