y Thisinvention relates to beds.

` An object of the invention is to provide a bed which is particularly adaptable for use by animals such as dogs. f Y

Another object of the invention is to provide a bed for dogs, cats, and the like, which is sov constructed as to be foldable into a small-space when notinuse.

A further object of the invention is `to provide a folding bed for household pets such as cats and dogs,which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture,` and effective in operation, being easily` opened out*L for use, and then folded up into a relatively small to be moved aside. I

Other objects anad advantages of my invention will appear from the -following description of a-preferred embodiment thereof as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and inwhich,

vReferring now to the drawings, there is a head board member'2 the'iow'er end 4 of whichis bifurcated to form two legs 6 and 8 upon which the head board rests on the floor I0. A horizontal head rest member I2 is secured at its rearward edge I4 to the head board 2 and is supported along its left and right side edges I6 and I8 by left and right side members 20 and 22 which are suitably rounded at their upper right hand corners 24 as seen in Figure 2. The side members and 22 have downward extensions 26 and 28 respectively for furnishing support for the horizontal member I2, and the side members 20 and 22 are secured along their head end edges 30 to the abutting face of head board 2 in any suitable manner.

At the foot of the bed is a foot board 32 se cured to the foot ends 34 of left and right side rails 36 and 38,with floor boards 40 secured to and bridging across the lower edges of the side rails as shown brest in Figures 2 and 3. upper corners 42 of the head ends of the side rails are rounded as shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4.

The side rails extend toward the head end of the bed outside of the side members I6 and I8,.being pivoted to the side members by means of pins or dowels 44 extending through alignedholes in the members I6, I8, 36 and 38, so thatv the movable assembly comprising the foot board, the side rai1s,`and`the floor boards may be pivoted counterclockwise, as shown in Figure 2, about the pivots 44 thus tilting -the movable assembly up to the position shown in Figure 4 and off the floor.

The foot end legs 46 and 48 are pivoted at their upper ends to the-foot board 32 by-means of hinges 50 and have their lower ends 52 resting upon the floor to support the foot end of the bed. As will be observed in Figures 1 and 2, the upper edge 54 of thev foot board 32 projects upward slightly above the upper edges 56 of the side rails, a metal socket 58 being inserted in a suitable recess in the surface 60 of the foot board 32.'

I claim.:v

1. A folding, bed comprising a vertical` headboard having a forwardlyfprojecting shelfl on its lower end having forwardly and rearwardlyl spaced-legmembers dependingfrom opposite ends thereof for engaging a surface;4 tosupport said headboard, in, erect-r stationary position thereon,
