of. which the followingis a. specification. n This invention relates `to a combined crib and play pen for infants. v

The primary object of the invention resides in a crib which may be used for sleeping purposes at night by an infant baby and which may be readily converted into a play pen during the day time for the same infant by removing the mattrcssand substituting therefor a flooring whereby the infant may have ample room for movement during the period when it is first beginning to stand and walk.

Another object of the intention is to provide a play pen for the reception of infants which may be readily transported from one part of a room to another and which supports the infant above the floor thus keeping the infant out of drafts and providing a safe and sanitary enclosure.

A further object is the provision of a crib for sleeping purposes which may be converted into a babys high chair when desired.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the reference numeral 10 designates my improved crib in its entirety and which includes a body 11 formed of side and end . walls 12 and 13 respectively; The walls are constructed of vertical rods arranged in spaced relation between top and bottom rails to provide a relatively open structure. .Legs le depend from the body and each is supported wheels 15 whereby `the strucl ture may be'conveniently rolled from one rooml to another. The body 11 supports a bed spring 1G over which a usual mattress is adapted to be placed when the crib is used for Vsleeping purposes. rThe description thus far explains the structure of an ordinary crib but should it be desired to utilize the same for a play pen, the mattress is removed anda door l17 substituted therefor.

' Thefoor 17 is of a size to snugly fit within trie body`11 and rests upon the frame of the bedsprings 16. The floor is preferably constructed of wood and is adapted to be paint-` ed or enameled in any suitable color to match that of the crib and which provides a highly sanitary surface for achild to play upon.

The infant may either sit upon the floor or when eating, a folding chair 18 may be moved into position as shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 of the drawing. Vlien folded, the chair is disposed adjacent one of the end walls 13, where it is out of the way to provide ample room for the infant while playin e' The folding chair 18 comprises apair of frame members or legs 19 which are pivoted between the walls of a pair of slots 20 formed in the floor 17. The members or legs are Lshaped and one arm of each of the legs enters the respective slots when the chair is in a folded position. The frame member supports a seat 21 to which the side arms Q2 are hingedly connectedfor folding inwardly over the seat. A back 23 is hingedly connected to the frame members rearward of the seat and is limited in its backward movement by suitable stops. The back 23 is adapted to fold down over the side arms when the par-'ts are in folded position. For

supporting the back in a vertical position, there is provided a member Qlhinged- Y ly connected to each arm and which meinbers are formed with a bifurcation 25 for receiving the side rails of the back` A tray 2G is movably supported upon the arms 22 by hooks 27, which are received in Vslots 28 in the tray. The tray'prevents the infant from falling from the chair and which may receive the food for the infant when feeding the saine. When the crib is used for sleeping purposes, theV floor 17 is removed and is supported beneath the body 11 by brackets 29 carried by the legs 14, and upon which brackets, the floor is adapted to lll() rest. It will be seen that the ioor is always Within reach for instant' use.

-From the foregoing description, it will be seen that l have provided a single piece ot furniture which serres the purpose of three pieres. that is, a` sleeping crib, a play pen and a high Chair. and which may be manufactured at a slight incre-.rse over the priee ot' one. It desired, the Hoor and the chair .may be sold as a separate unit for those cribs now in use.
