7 Claims.
This invention relates to achilds crib and has for an important object thereof, the provision-in a device of this character, of an arrangement for permitting-the crib tobe utilized both as a crib and play pen.
A-fu'rther object of the invention is the provision ofa-floor-ing-for--usein the'c'rib whichimay be permanently connected in the cribrstructure and whicln-when not in use, may be conveniently I A further object of the invention is "the. provision in a structure of this character of an arrangement such that the flooring may be disposed against one of the cribsides, if desired, to act as a meansfor checking" drafts or for shield- 'ingthe occupantfrom light or-the sun.
These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration, I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a crib constructed in accordance with my invention, the play pen bottom being disposed in its inoperative position;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof;
Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a View similar to that of Fig. 3 but illustrating the flooring in operative position;
Fig. 5 is a section on line 55 of Fig. 4, the flooring being illustrated in solid lines in one of its operative positions and in dotted lines in a second operative position;
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary section similar to that of Fig. 4 showing the flooring in use as a light, sun, or draft shield; and
Fig. '7 is an enlarged detailed view illustrating the construction of the mounting means for the flooring.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the crib frame comprises end members l0, side members I! and i2 and a spring frame l3. One of the side members I2 is preferably of the vertically shiftable type being mounted on vertical guide rods M to this end.
In accordance with my invention, the spring frame i3 is made slightly narrower than the distance between the side members I! and I2 and is offset to that side of the crib bearing the stationary side member I I, thus providing a space l5 between the spring frame and the slidable side member ii. To the end members it, a second set of vertical guide members l6 are connected and upon these guide members sleeves ll are vertically shiftable. Pivoted to the sleeve ii lithrough arms :18 is a;.1pa=nel l9 formedlin' two sections hinged-at 19a.

Since the structure illustrated is obviously capable of considerable modification without departing from the spirit of the invention, I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself thereto except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
1. In a crib, a frame comprising end and side members and a spring frame mounted in said frame with one side thereof spaced from the adjacent side member, a panel, means slidably and pivotally connecting said panel to the frame for movement from a lowered inoperative position where it is disposed in the space between the spring frame and side member to an operative position where it may be disposed over the spring frame as a flooring for the crib.
2. In a crib, a frame comprising end and side members and a spring frame mounted in said frame with one side thereof spaced from the adjacent side member, a panel, means slidably and pivotally connecting said panel to the frame for movement from a lowered inoperative position where it is disposed in the space between the spring frame and side member to an operative position where it may be disposed over the spring frame as a flooring for the crib or in parallel relation to the adjacent side, and means to secure said panel in the last-named position.
3. In a crib, a frame comprising end and side members and a spring frame mounted in said frame with one side thereof spaced from the adjacent side member to provide a vertical space between said side member and said spring frame,
and a panel means slidably connecting the frame and panel for movement from an inoperative position where it is disposed in said space to an operative position where it is disposed above the spring frame and in parallel with the adjacent side member, and means to secure the panel in its operative position.
4. In a crib, a frame comprising end members, side members, and a spring frame connecting the end members and disposed to provide a vertical space between it and one of the side members, a vertical guide secured to each end member adjacent said side member, sleeves slidable on said guides and a panel hinged to said sleeves for movement into horizontal or vertical positions and disposable in said space when in vertical position.
5. In a crib, a frame comprising end members, side members, and a spring frame connecting the end members and disposed to provide a vertical space between it and one of the side members, a vertical guide secured to each end member adjacent said side member, sleeves slidable on said guides and a panel hinged to said sleeves for movement into horizontal or vertical positions and disposable in said space when in vertical position, said panel being formed in two longitudinally hinged sections foldable to lie in face to face relation.
6. In a crib, a frame comprising end members, side members, and a spring frame connecting the end members and disposed to provide a vertical space between it and one of the side members, a vertical guide secured to each end member adjacent said side member, sleeves slidable on said guides and a panel hinged to said sleeves for movement into horizontal or vertical positions and disposable in said space when in vertical position, and means to support said sleeves in either of two vertically spaced positions.
7. In a crib, a frame comprising end members, side members, and a spring frame connecting the end members and disposed to provide a vertical space between it and one of the side members, a vertical guide secured to each end member adjacent said side member, sleeves slidable on said guides and a panel hinged to said sleeves for movement into horizontal or vertical positions and disposable in said space when in vertical position, means to support said sleeves in either of two vertically spaced positions, said panel being formed in two longitudinally hinged sections foldable to lie in face to face relation.
