Pivotally attached to the lower sides of the frame elements 37 near their outer by the cross bar element 56 tn which is removably'attached alongitudinal brace bar 57 connecting Y with the rear cross bar between the main legs 12, the bar being held by the pins 58 so as to be entirely removed when the structure is to bey used as a chair as showny in Fig. 2.
Y The operation of compactly folding as in Fig. 3 is as follows; The side elements 24 are folded downward upon the seat elements and the foot extension is raised vertically and allowed to fall into horizontal position upon the folded side elements 424. The rearwardly eX- tending side frames 42 are folded upon the back frame element 37 and the head exten-` sion frame 50 inwardly over and upon the side frames 42.
The cross bars 57 and the pins 58 being removed, the folded frame members 37-42 `and 50 may be folded over and upon the seat frame members 20-24 and 30 and the auxiliary legs or support 55 folded upon frame 37. The catches 17 on being released permit the main leg members 10 and 12 to be col` lapsed substantially as shown in Fig. 3.
