To all whom, t may concern:

Be it known that I, MARY GEISEL, a citizenk and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and ilse the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the gures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention comprises a folding bed having in combination therewith a dresser and washst'and, which are hinged to the casing of the bed and swing to open or 'close the casing when the bed is let down or put up.

The object of the invention is to combine the said articles of furniture in a simple and efficient manner and to secure the advantages of all at a saving of space.

An embodiment of the invention is hereinafter described and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the article with the bed folded up and the stand and dresser closed. Fig. 2 is a perspective view with the parts opened and the bed lowered. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of a modification having two beds which fold into opposite sides of the casing. e

Referring specifically to the drawings,a casing is indicated at 6, of suitable width, height, and depth to receive a folding-bed frame formed by the side bars 7 and end bars 7a. The bed-springs and mattress will be supported on this frame in any suitable manner. The bed-frame is pivoted to the sides of the casing by bolts 8, which work in slots 7b in the end bars. The slots allow the frame to be drawn out of the casing far enough to give a desirable width to the bed and when the bed is folded allow the inner or lower side bar of the frame to drop near to the floor, so that the casing need not be as high as if the pivot was fixed in the frame. An entering-opening 8f to the slot allows the bed-frame to be lift-edout and removed, when desired, without taking out the bolts. A

Two cabinets are hinged to the casing and preferably comprise a dresser 9 and washstand 10, although a wardrobe or other article may be substituted, if desired. These are hinged to the front edges of the side walls ofthe casing by hinges, (indicated at 11,) and they swing out on the hinges to open the casing and allow the bed to be lowered, when they form head and foot boards for the bed, and the end frames of the bed rest on cleats 12, fixed to the backs of the cabinets. In the open position the outer side bar of the bed-frame is supported by legs '13, which are properly shaped or faced to iill the space between the top of the dresser and stand and the top of the casing when the parts are folded, as shown in Fig. 1. This gives the article a neat appearance and serves to conceal the bed when it is not in use. The legs 13 are supported by folding braces 13, joined to the bed-frame, and are hinged, as at 13", to the outer side bar of the bed-frame.

A spring-catch is indicated at 11, which engages in a proper socket in the top of the casing to hold the bed-frame when it is folded and prevent it from falling out against the cabinets.

The casing and the cabinets are mounted on casters to facilitate the necessary movements.

It is to be understood that the bed may, if desired, be made to fold lengthwise into the casing instead of sidewise, as above described, in which event the casing must necessarily be made higher and narrower; butI consider the sidewise folding to be preferable.

In the modification shown in Fig. 3 two beds are provided which fold together from opposite sides of the casing. This will be found useful, particularly when it is desired that a child or children sleep in the same room with parents. In this construction the cabinets would best he not duplicated, as the folded, the remainder of the front of the cas- 16 article would be thereby made unduly cuming.
