' This invention relates to garments and more particularly to garments such as shirts for sports wear provided with removable members adapted to impart a desired contour to the shoulders of the wearer.

The chief object of the present invention is to provide a shirt for sports wear including removable padding members disposed in pockets adjacent the shoulders of a wearer to impart a desired contour to the shoulders of the wearer.

An object of the present invention is to provide a shirt for sports wear including wedge-shaped triangular pads easily removable to permit laundering of. the shirt and adapted to impart the appearance of breadth and strength to the shoulders of a wearer.

A further object is to provide a shirt for sports wear having interior pockets disposed adjacent the shoulders of the wearer for the reception of padding members which impart a desired contour to the shoulders of a wearer. Other objects of my invention will be readily perceived from the following description.

This invention relates to a shirt for sports wear which comprises front body portions, 2. rear body portion secured to the front portions, a collar portion secured to the front and rear portions and extending about the neckline of the shirt,

, removable means adapted to fit over the shoulders of the wearer to impart a desired contour thereto,

the reception of the padding member;

Referring to the drawing, there is shown a shirt for sports wear including front body portions 2, a rear body portion 3 and a collar member 4 extending about the neckline of the shirt and se- 1 curedto the body portions 2 and 3. The rear body portion is secured to the front body portions 2 as is well known in the industry. Any

suitable fastening means 5, for example, buttons and button holes may be employed to secure the front portions 2 in closed position about the body;

Each shoulder portion of the shirt may com prise two exterior triangular members 6 (refer to Figure 2) stitched to one another and secured,

101 preferably, by stitching, to the body portions 2.

and 3. The apex of each member 6 extends adjacent and is secured to the collar portion 4. The base of each member 6, preferably, is stitched in position adjacent the sleeve 1 of the shirt. Members 6 form in effect the exterior walls of pocket members 8. The interior walls of pockets 8 (refer to Figure 3) are formed by fabric members ii stitched, if desired, to the exterior shoulder portions 6 or to the front and rear body portions Z and 3 depending upon the type of shirt in which the invention is embodied. Members 9 are triangular in shape, the apex of each member extending adjacent the collar portion t while the base of each member extends adjacent the sleeve 1. Members 9 are stitched at the apex and along each side; the base of member 9 is free and permits the insertion of padding members, hereinafter described, within the pocket. Preferably, some fullness is employed in member 9 to permit it to conform to the contour of the shoulder.

Padding members l2 are disposed in the pockets 8 to impart a desired contour to the shoulders of a wearer. Padding members 12 are removable to permit laundering of the shirt, of members E2, or to permit new members 12 to be disposed in the pockets. Each member 12 consists of a wedge-shaped triangular body composed of padding l3 and having a cover I4 stitched in place about the padding l3 to retain it in desired shape.

The apex [5 of member I2 is adapted to be dis-c posed adjacent the apex of the pocket 8 while the base l6 extends adjacent the sleeve or proximate the edge of the shoulder. The base I6 is concave in curvature to fit over the shoulder; each member 12 fits snugly against the shoulder of a wearer to impart a desired contour thereto. It will be noted by reference to Figure 4 that member 12 is shaped to permit the ends I! of base it to extend downward below the upper plane of the shoulder of the wearer thus permitting the member tolie snugly against such shoulder,

It will be understood similar members are disposed in pockets 8 at each side of the shirt to impart the appearance of breadth and strength to the shoulders of a wearer. If one shoulder of a wearer is deformed, it will be appreciated pad members 52 may be so designed as to impart a desired similar contour to each shoulder of the wearer.

WhileI have illustrated the, contour imparting members of: the present invention applied to a shirt for sports wear, it will be appreciated the present invention may be employed with other, types of garments. For example, the invention may be applied to a shirt having raglan-- type; sleeves and in such case members 9aredisposed interiorly to form pockets for the reception of" padding members to impartjldesiredlcontour'to; the shoulders of a wearer. Likewise, the invention with little or no adaptation can be applied to similar garments in order to impart the appear-ance'of breadthand strengthto-the shoulders of a wearerand to conceal deformitiesif required.

The present invention provides agarment ca--- pable of imp art-ing a desired contour't'o the shoulders' of a wearer.- The padding members are readily removable to permit laundering of thegarment, of the member or to permit substitution of new members in-the garment-z The'padding'members aresodesigned astoimpart a=de'-- sired appearance to the shoulders of a wearer and areadapted tofit snugly' over theshouldersof'thewearer thereby conveying the impression of being an integral portion thereof. The means provided to secure the paddingmembers inthe pockets do not interfere with the appearance of the garment and do-not rub against orirritate the shoulder of the'wearer;

While I have described and illustrated a preferred embodiment ofmyinvention; it will be understood my invention is' notlimited thereto since it maybe otherwise embodied within the scope of the following claims;
