LEMON-SQUEEZER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 240,858, dated May 3, 1881.

Application filed January 12, 1881.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J OSEPH (J. STEBER, of San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented a new and useful Lemon-Squeezer, of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists of a cylinder divided into four parts or sections, and these sections are joined by a hinged connection, so that when power is applied the flat surfaces of the interior ofthe cylinder will be brought together, forming comparatively a close-fitting joint; and the object of myimprovement is to provide a lemon-squeezer which in its operation will receive and fully express the juice from the fruit without the necessity of handling the same by the person using the implement.

The accompanying drawing represents a plan of my invention with levers or handles attached.

In practice the lemon is cut in halves and laid upon a flat surface with the divided portion face downward. Grasp the levers or handles with the hands and place the expanded cylinder over the divided lemon and press the handles together, which operation draws the flat surfaces of the cylinder together in form of a double ellipse, connected midway ant at the ends thereof by the hinges b I).

A lemonsqueezer composed of four sections united by hinges at four points and at their united sides to the arms of the fulcrumed 1evers, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
