More specifically, the invention proposes sev-.
eral forms of the improved holding means which are characterized by spear type fastening devices mounted on certain faces of the shield or on strips depending from certain points of the shield, which will become clear as this specification proceeds.
Another object of the invention isthe con-.- struction of a device as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost. v
For further comprehension of the. invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, ref: erence will be had to the follcwingdes'cription and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novelfeatures of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a inaterial part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is an illustration of a blouse with detach able arm shields constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary enlarged sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a perspective shield. v
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of the spear type of fastening device.
Fig. 6 is an elevational view of a detachable arm shield constructed in accordance with a modified form of this invention.
Fig. '7 is a perspective view of another arm shield constructed in accordance with still another form of this invention.
Fig. 8 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 8-8 of Fig. '7.
The detachable arm shield for garments, in accordance with this invention, includes a pair of crescent shaped sections I 0 secured together along their concaved sides H. Spear type fastening means I2 is mounted on the adjacent faces of the points of said sections [0 for engaging viewof the new arm through the armpit seams [3 of a waist or dress.
I4. Depending strips I5 from the centers of the convexed sides l6 of the said sections ID are pro- The stud part I9 is provided with a pointed end 20 which is capable of piercing the material of a seam when the fastener is applied. The strips I l5 may comprise a strap bent at its center and secured at the bent portion with stitches 2| to the material of the sections of the shield. The free ends of this strap is provided with spear type fastener devices l2 as previously explained.
The arm shield is used by engaging it within the arm of a dress or waist in a manner so that the crescent shaped sections l0. straddle the armpit of the arm opening. of the dress vor waist. The spear type fastening means I2 is pierced through the armpit seam l3 and the spear type fastening devices l2upon the ends of the strips liare pierced through the side seams of the dress for securely holding the shield detachably in position. p I
In Fig. 6 a modified form of the invention has been disclosed which is similar to the prior form,
distinguishing merely in the fact that auxiliary InFigs. 7 and '8 still another form of the invention is shown which is very similarto the first form, distinguishing in the fact that the strips l5 have been eliminated and in their place the sections l0 havebeen provided with gussetsc 25 projecting at right angles from the sections at the centers of the convexed sides thereof. These gussets 25 are set into the material of thesections l0 and are secured in position by the stitches 26. Each gusset 25 is .of triangular shape and has opposed layers 21 and 28. These opposed layers are provided with a spear type fastening device I 2.
This new arm shield is engaged across the armpit of a dress or waist. The spear type fastening devices 12 on the adjacent faces of the points of the sections I 0 are clipped on to the armpit seam. The gussets 25 are engaged over the side seams and the layers 2'! and 28 thereof are forced together to engage the fastening means [2 thereof on to the side seam.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United layers for engaging through the side seams of a dress. V 2. -A=detachable arm shield for garments comprising a pair of crescent shaped sections secured together alon their concaved sides, spear type fastener devices mounted on the adjacentfaces of the points of said sections for'engaging through the armpit seams of a dress or waist, the convexed sides of said sections being provided with gussets which project at right angles to these sections, said gussets having opposed layers, and
spear type fastening devices on said opposed 7 layers for engaging through the side seams of a dress, said gussets being of triangularshapes.
3. A detachable arm shield for garmentscomprising a pair of crescent shaped sections secured together along their concaved sides, spear type fastener devices mounted on the adjacent faces of the points ofsaid sections for engaging through 'the armpit seams of a dress or waist, the convexed sides of said sections being provided with gussets which" project at right-angles to these sections, said gussets having opposed layers,'and
spear type fastening'devices on said opposed layers for engaging through the side seams of a dress, said gussets being stitched to said crescent shaped sections, v
