Description
Oct. 25, 1932. O MAHLE 1,884,031
LINGERIE HOLDER Filed Dec. 11. 1931 I f ci A; A /4 B WJTNESS: I INVENTOR Elfin Mahle 7 V I I H15 ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 25, 1932 UNITED STATES OTTO MAHLE, F ELMHURST, NEW YORK LINGERIE HOLDER Application filed December 11, 1931. Serial No. 580,297.
This invention relates to lingerie holders, and has for an object to provide an improved clamping organization engaging the under seam at the shoulder of a gown, and
, providing improved means connected therewith for clamping a lingerie strap.
A further object of the invention is to provide a clamping device having clamping members oppositely directed and rigidly connected, and lying in perpendicular planes.
A'further object of the invention is to provide clamping members lying in perpendicular planes, one of which is provided with a laterally extended part for clamping the seam at the shoulder of a gown, the other clamping member being particularly adapted by its conformation for clamping a lingerie strap.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention and the views therein are as follows:
Figure 1 is a view of the invention in side elevation as applied to a gown and lingerie, such lingerie and gown being shown in dotted lines,
Figure 2 is a view at right angles to Figure 1, as indicated by arrow 2 at Figure 1,
Figure 8 is a plan View of the blank from which the body of the device is constructed, and
Figure 4 is a sectional view, taken on line 44 showing the pintle and spring.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The improved lingerie holder, which forms the subject matter of this application, comprises a pair of clamping members A and B. These clamping members A and B are constructed with their base of a single piece a sheet material, as indicated. at Figure 3. The base of the clamp A is shown at 10, and the base of the clamp B is shown at 11. These base members are interconnected by means of a neck 12, which when the device is constructed, is twisted so that the bases 10 and 11 lie perpendicular to each other. The base 10 is provided with ears 13, and the base 11 is provided with ears 14, between which 6 ears are pivoted respectively, the clamping fingers 15 and 16. These clamping fingers 15 and 16 are carried b y pintles 1 7 and 18 re spectively, which said pintles are surrounded by springs 19, tending to hold the clamping fingers 15 and 16 in clamping position. It will be noted, especially from Figure 1, that the base 11 is provided with a lateral extension 20 and the finger 16 with an extension of the same outline which extend upwardly when in position shown at Figure 1 to engage the seam of the overlying garment, indicated at 21 at Figure 1.
The section A is in position also to engage a strap indicated at 22, as the strap or lingerie underlying the overlying garment.
It will be noted that the section A is provided with interengaging teeth 23 of the base and clamping finger, and that the section B is likewise provided with engaging teeth 24:.
In operation, the device will be attached to the in-seam at the shoulder of a gown preferably prior to being donned. After being donned, the lingerie strap underlying the gown, will be engaged by the section A and maintained in its required position. This arrangement will hold the lingerie strap permanently fixed laterally relative to the shoulder, while at the same time, suflicient resiliency will be provided by the seam of the dress, and the angular movement of the device as an entirety to accommodate any longitudinal movement of the lingerie strap.
Of course, the lingerie holder, herein illustrated, may be modified in various ways without departing from the invention herein set forth and hereinafter claimed.
The invention is hereby claimed as follows:
1. A lingerie holder comprising an integral base of sheet material having spaced pairs of pintle ears, said base being twisted intermediate the pa rs of cars to lie permanently in substantially perpendicular planes, and spring urged clamping members pivoted each to one of the pairs of cars, one end of the base and the corresponding clamping member having complementary cooperating garment engaging lateral extensions.
2. A lingerie holder comprising an inte gral base of sheet material having spaced pairs of pintle ears, said base being twisted intermediate the pairs of ears to lie permanently in substantially perpendicular planes, and spring urged clamping members pivoted each to one of the pairs of ears, one end of the base and the corresponding clamping member having complementary garment engaging lateral extensions, said extensions having their edges bent toward each other into substantial engagement.
3. A lingerie holder comprising a clasp member including spring urged clamping members having lateral extensions with the edges thereof bent toward each other into cooperating relation, and a second clasp member rigidly attached thereto having its corresponding parts at right angles to those of the first mentioned member.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
OTTO MAHLE.
