DOLL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 235,218, dated December '7, 1880.
(No model.)
' tion of the corset upon the material forming the outer casin g of dolls having stuffed bodies before said material is cut to form the said casing the representation of the corset may serve the purpose of a guide by which to cut' the material in the proper shape. I may delineate a representation of a corset on the material forming the front of the body of the doll only, or on the material forming both the front and back.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of the body, head, and arms of a doll having a stuffed body and a representation of a corset printed or otherwise delineated thereon, and Fig. 2 is a back view of the same.
Similar letters of reference designate corresponding parts in both figures.
A designates the body of the doll, consisting of a woven fabric suitably cut to form a front and back piece, which are sewed together at the sides to form an outer casing and stuffed with sawdust or other suitable material. On the front of this outer casingis printed in ink, or otherwise delineated, a representation of the front portion of a corset, and on v the back there may be similarly delineated a representation of the back portion of a corset.
The printing or other delineation of the corset on the material used for the outer casing is preferably done before said material is cut, and then it may serve the purpose of a guide or pattern whereby to cut the portion of the material forming the side edges of the front and back of said casing in the proper dimensions and shape to render the bodies of dolls uniform in shape.
The bust B and head 0 of the doll are shown as made in one piece,of china or like material, and affixed to the body in the usual manner by an adhesive substance, such as a suitable glue or cement. 1
The arms D may consist of stutfed upper sections united to lower sections of china or like material.
It will be understood that the representation of the corset renders the bodies of the dolls more ornamental, and imparts to them an apparently better shape or figure.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The body of a doll, having printed or 0th erwise delineated upon it a representation of a corset, substantially as specified.
2. The body of adoll, consisting of an outer casing and a stutfing of sawdust or like material, aud having printed or otherwise delineated upon the material forming the outer casing the representation of a corset, substantially as specified.
