Description

P 1943- 1, F. MORINS 2,329,478
7 I HAIR NE T Filed Jan. 9,- 1943 ENVENTOR lsa/v JFMOR/Ns ATTORNEY Patented Sept. 14, 1943 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE This invention deals with hair nets and particularly is directed to netted hair nets having as its principal object to utilize a blank provided with ground netting having a relatively large mesh terminating in transversely arrangedborders each of a relatively close mesh whereby the longitudinal sides or edges of the blank and portions only of the border meshes are coalesced along thread means adequately looped to secure the border nettings to characterize with the ground netting, pouch means having spaced and dependent and separable lip means to facilitate mounting of the netted pouch on a head of hair to desirably retain the dress of the latter. Other important functional and structural features of the invention will be more appreciated in the perusal of the following specification viewed in the light of the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is an underneath perspective view of the hair net according to my invention.
. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the netted blank, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the hair net, shown partly broken away.
The hair net I is formed from the netted blank ll having the ground netting l2 of a relatively large mesh and the transversely arranged border nettings l3 of a relatively small mesh.
Tie means It are disposed along the longitu dinal side edges of the blank and threaded through or loosely interlocked with the side loops of the ground mesh l2 and through portions of the longitudinal edges or side loops of the border meshes l3, thus leaving transversely arranged lips l5 independent of the spaced tie means or strin'gs l4.
By the present arrangement it is apparent that the free ends I6 01 the tie means even though disassociated from a part of the sides of the border meshes, that is, not threaded through, are readily' accessible for drawing the sides of the blank together to form the pouch.
For example, the free terminals l8 of the tie means 14 shown at the upper edge of the blank in Fig. 2 are first grasped and drawn towards each ther, thus coalescing the upper longitudin'al edge of the blank except for the lip means Pursuant to coalescing or contracting of the upper edge of the blank the tie means is drawn together and appreciably tied into a loop ll. In a similar manner the tie means threaded through or interlocked with the bottom edm of the blank is drawn together to coalesce this side except for its lip portions l5 and thereafter it is tied to provide adequate loop means as H.
By reason of drawing together the longitudinal edges of the netted blank selectively and thereafter securing the terminals of the tie means in the form of loops, an appropriate pouch is formed.
however including the freely depending terminal portions or lips I5. Because of this construction the hair net in actual practice can be compensated, namely, to adjustably fit over a head of hair in that the rim characterized by the border meshes I3 is partlyseparated or split as shown and partly anchored by the loop means. Hence great adjustability of the hair net is possible to accommodate various sizes of heads of hair as is well appreciated and of course the size of the spaced loops may be also controlled to limit the extent of the divergence of the secured and upper portion of the split rim characterized by the border nettings l3.
While the invention has been described in detail and reference has been made to a specific large mesh and intervening said border nettings,
said nettings presenting spaced longitudinally disposed looped edges, and spaced tie means loosely interlocked with said longitudinal looped edges except for terminal portions of said border nettings, said terminal portions defining lip portions independent of said tie means, said tie means severally adapted to coalesce said border nettings towards said ground netting and the latter for appreciably contracting said blank except for said lip terminal portions, said tie means pursuant to drawlng up and securing thereof defining spaced looped means disposed substantially at the upper ends 0! said terminal lip portions to leave the latter depending freely from portions 01. said border nettings adjacent said ground netting.
2. In a hair net, :1. netted relatively elongated blank comprising spaced border nettings having a relatively close mesh and a: ground netting having a relatively large mesh and intervening said border nettings, said nettings presenting spaced longitudinally disposed looped edges, and spaced strings loosely interlocked with said longitudinal looped edges except ior terminal portions of said border nettings, said terminal portions defining lip portions independent of said strings, said strings severally adapted to coalesce said border nettings towards said ground netting and the latter for appreciably contracting said blank except for said lip portions, said strin s pursuant to drawing up and securing thereof defining spaced looped means disposed substantially at the upper ends of said lip portions to leave the latter depending freely from portions of said border nettings adjacent said ground netting.
3. In a hair net, a netted blank comprising spaced border netting having a relatively close mesh and a ground netting having a relatively large mesh and intervening said border nettings, said nettings presenting spaced longitudinally disposed looped edges, and spaced tie means loosely interlocked with said longitudinal looped ed es except for terminal portions of said border nettings, said terminal portions defining lip portions independent of said tie ,means, said tie 'means severally adapted to coalesce said border nettings towards said ground netting and the latter for appreciably contracting said blank except for said lip portions, said tie means purs'uant to drawing up and securing thereof de-.
4. In a hair net, a netted blank comprising" spaced border nettings having a relatively close mesh and a ground netting having a relatively large mesh and intervening said border nettings, said nettings presenting spaced longitudinally disposed looped edges, spaced tie means loosely interlocked with said longitudinal looped edges except for terminal portions of said border nettings, said terminal portions defining lip portions independent of said tie means, said tie means'severally adapted to coalesce said border nettings towards saidground netting and the latter for appreciably contracting said blank except for said lip portions, said tie means pursuant to drawing up and securing thereof defining spaced looped means disposed substantially at the upper ends of said lip portions and securing portions of said border nettlngs adjacent said\ ground netting in spatial relation to define with the latter pouch means having said lip portions depending freely from said secured portions of'said border nettings, and said lips characterizing a split rim peripherally of said pouch means.
5. In a hair net, 9. netted blank comprising spaced border nettings, having a relatively close mesh and a ground netting having a relatively large mesh and intervening said border nettings, said nettings presenting spaced longitudinally disposed looped edges, spaced tie means loosely interlocked with said longitudinal looped edges except for terminal portions of said border nettings, said terminal portions defining lip portions independent of said tie means, said tie means severally adapted to coalesce said border nettings towards said ground ,netting and the latter for appreciably contracting said blank except for said lip portions, said tie means pursuant to drawing up and securing thereof disposing portions of said border nettings adjacent said ground netting to define with the latter pouch means having said lip portions depending freely from said secured portions of said border peripherally of said pouch means.
