HAIR NET Filed Oct. 12, 1954 INVENTOR.
Unite grates Patent HAIR NET Lucille J. King, Bartow, Fla. Application October 12, 1954, Serial No. 461,848 3 Claims. (Cl. 132-49) This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in hair nets designed particularly for use after the hair has been washed and set and is being dried.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide an improved and simplified hair net over those now in commercial use and one particularly adaptable for use for the new nape-cut hair style to keep the same substantially intact while the hair is being dried under a hair drier or otherwise.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings showing the preferred form of construction, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the hair net embodying my invention, showing the same in expanded condition;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same in applied position upon the head;
Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the same in applied position upon the head.
The several objects of this invention are accomplished by the preferred form of construction shown in the accompanying drawings, in which drawings a hair net is indicated generally at 10. It comprises a body of net construction and of a somewhat triangular shape in plan view. The base 11 of the hair net has a non-elastic edge 12 of tightly woven material to reinforce the body thereof and to prevent curling of the edge. The con verging edges 13 of the body are reinforced by a non elastic piping 14 stitched to the body in any suitable manner. The pipings or bindings 14 at corresponding end portions merge into an elastic strip 15 likewise stitched to the body 10 in any suitable manner. The corner portions 16 of the body provide tie streamers by means of which the hair net is secured in position upon the head.
In applying rny improved hair net to the head, the elastic band 15 is expanded and placed across the wearers forehead as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The streamers 16 are then pulled taut so as to expand the body 10. The medial portion of the base 11 of the body 10 is placed on the nape 18 of the neck so as to dispose the edge 12 over the nape of the neck, from which point the streamers are brought forward on each side of the head and the ends thereof tied into a suitable knot or bow 17, thus securing the hair net upon the head.
It will be noted that as the edge 12 is passed over the nape of the neck, it will be drawn tightly against the nape of the neck, pressing and holding the nape hair flatly and smoothly against the head and preventing rufiling of the hair during the drying operation. The drawing of the edge 12 against the nape 18 of the neck is brought about as the wearer or the beautician is in the act of securing the streamer ends 16 together in a knot or bow 17.
The many advantages resulting from my improved and simplified hair net will be obvious from the foregoing description. The hair net may be made of any suitable material, with fine or coarse netting or mesh, as best suits the purpose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. A hair net for the purposes herein described comprising a net body of substantially triangular formation in plan View with the base edge of the body reinforced by finely woven fabric, piping secured to and extending along the side edges of the body, an elastic forehead band connecting corresponding end portions of said piping together, the length of the base edge being such as to permit the body to be disposed over the nape of the neck and brought around the head with the opposite end portions of the base edge disposed adjacent said elastic forehead band in the area of the forehead, to be tied into a kot or bow.
2. A hair net for the purposes herein described comprising a net body of substantially triangular formation in plan view with the base edge of the body reinforced by finely woven fabric, piping secured to and extending along the side edges of the body, an elastic forehead band connecting corresponding end portions of said piping together, the opposite end portions of the piping connected to opposite end portions of the base edge to provide tying streamers, the length of the base edge being such as to permit the body to be brought around the head and disposed over the nape of the neck, with the tying streamers disposed in the area of the forehead, to be tied into a knot or bow adjacent said elastic strip.
3. A hair net for the purposes herein described comprising a net body of substantially triangular formation in plan view with the base edge of the body reinforced by finely woven fabric, piping secured to and extending along the side edges of the body, an elastic forehead band connecting corresponding end portions of said piping together, the opposite end portions of the piping connected to opposite end portions of the base edge to provide tying streamers, said elastic strip being formed to cover the forehead while the base edge is of such a length to permit the body to be brought around the head to dispose said base edge over the nape of the neck, with the tying streamers disposed about said elastic forehead band.
