1 Claim.

This. invention relates to a turban cap.

vIt. is; an. object of the present. invention to provide. a turban cap which can be readily and easily applied to the head and which can be made of thin transparent plastic material and attached to the head by a tying operation after first placing the main body of the same over the top of the head and bringing the tails about the back and around the front of the head and to tie the same thereto.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a turban cap wherein the same can be flattened in such a manner that it can be folded and will consume little space in the handbag of the owner and yet quickly and easily adapted for application to the head.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a turban cap which is of simple construction, light in weight, inexpensive to manufacture, transparent, easy to apply to the head, and efiicient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a perspective view of the cap embodying the features of the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the cap being applied to the head and with the tail portions crossed at the rear thereof.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the cap upon the head and with the tail portions tied at the front thereof.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a modified form of cap.

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the cap shown in Fig. 4 with portions drawn together in order to form the part to be adapted over the forehead of the wearer.

Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a still further form of the invention.

Referring now particularly to Figs. 1 to 3, I0 and l I represent respectively long strips which are sewed together along part of their inner edges [2 to provide a head portion 13 adapted to fit over the top of the head in the manner as shown in Fig. 2. The upper ends of the strips are cut away at their outer corners, as indicated at 14 and I5, respectively so as to eliminate any sharp corners. The strips are hemmed all around the edges I6 and the hems are joined along part of their inner edges I2 by the common stitching. The unjoined parts of the strips H! and H provide tails l1 and I8 which are crossed in the manthe front. of thehead in the manner as. indicated at lewhereby the, cap is made secure upon the. head- These. strips are made of transparent,

thinplastic. material through which the hair. can be seen and are waterproof. By cutting away the corners of the strips to provide inclined edges connecting with a front edge [2a as indicated at [4 and I5, the turban cap will have a better appearance at the front of the head.

Referring now particularly to'Fig's. 4 and 5, there is shown a modified form of the invention. In this form of the invention there is provided upon each strip in or II at the forward part thereof and upon head portion It a button 21 and a button hole 22. When the cap is placed on the head, the button is placed in the button hole so as to draw the portions together and to cup the front portion of the cap in the manner as shown in Fig. 5 so that it will be more easily retained upon the forehead. Thereafter, the tails are drawn across the rear of the head and to the front thereof to provide the knot I9. The corners of the main or head portion 13' are cut away as indicated at M and IE to show inclined edges connecting the side edges of the head portion l3 with the front edge I211. In applying the cap, it is done in the same manner as above described in connection with the form of the invention shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, By using the buttons 2|, the sides are drawn about the side of the head and the central part is drawn down. The strips l0 and H are joined at l2 to provide the head or main portion I3 that is generally of rectangular configuration.

Referring now to Fig. 6, there is shown a still further form of the invention wherein a part is connected about top portion [3", which is provided by joining strips l0 and II at l2" in order to provide for engagement with the forehead and in order to keep the head portion I3 in place while tying the tails about the head and at the same time to help to keep the completely tied cap in place upon the head. This depending portion is shown at 23 and surrounds the entire head portion [3". A fringe 24 may be provided upon this depending portion for decorative value. This cap will be applied in the same manner as the other caps are applied and the depending portion 23 will be drawn tightly about the forward part of the head.

It will be apparent that there has been provided a turban cap which can be formed of light plastice material and which is transparent and can be used to cover the hair to keep the same from becoming wet during rainy weather, can be used when taking a shower in order to keep the hair dry. The cap may also have use in a beauty parlor to keep the hair, when treated with the various solutions, from becoming so quickly dried and at the same time to keep the dust from the hair during these times.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.

What is claimed is:

A turban cap comprised of two substantially rectangular blanks joined together along a portion of their length inwardly from one end to form a main body portion with front and side edges adapted to fit over the top of the head and providing two split substantially rectangular trailing tail portions extending from said main body portion and having their side edges contiguous with the side edges of said main body portion and said tail portions adapted to be crossed at the back of the head and to be extended forwardly about the sides of the head for securement together over the forehead, said main portion having an angularly disposed edge connecting each side edge with the front edge, and spaced apart cooperating separable fastening means disposed along each angularly disposed edge adjacent each end of said edge, said separable fastening means, when engaged, holding the body portion gathered along said angularly disposed edges, whereby to cup the main body portion about the forward part of the head.
