Description

R. SOOTTRON. Adjustable Window-Cornice.
No. 224,732. Patented Feb. 17,1880.
WITNESSES ATTURN E Y N-PETERS, PHOTO-LITHOGHAPHER WASNING'TQN, D. C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL R. soo'rreolv, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
ADJUSTABLE WlNDOW-CORNICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 224,732, dated February 17, 1880.
' Application filed August 8, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL R. SOOTTRON,
of New York, in the county of New York, and in the State of NewYork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjusta hle Window-Goruices; and I do hereby declare that the following is' a full, clear, and exact I description thereof, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of auadjustable or extensible WllltlOW-(iOll'llCG, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawings, Figure l is a crosssection of my cornice. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same.
- A A represent the two main parts or side pieces of the cornice, and B is the center piece, all formed in any desired or suitable shape. The center piece, B, is m ade to overlap the side pieces, A A, at the bottom, as shown at a, and it maybe made to overlap at the top also, if desired. By thus overlapping, the parts are held more firmly together.
In each side piece, A, on the inner or rear side, is made a longitudinal groove, b, in which fits a bar or block, G, as shown. I Through the center of the center piece, B, is passed from the front a screw, D, which passes between the inner ends of the parts A A and through the hold on the side pieces, A A, when the same are extended.
I am aware of the Patent No. 89,139, granted to O. L. Gardner, April 20, 1869, and do not claim anything therein shown (ir described.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In an adjustable window-cornice, the combination of the side pieces, A A, formed on the back with the grooves b I), the center piece, B, having overlapping edges at top orbottom, or both, the block 0, roughened on its inner face, screw D, and thumb-nut F, all constructed substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day of August, 1879.
SAMUEL R. SGOTTRON.
