O. BOCHMANN DOUBLE TWIST TWISTING SPINDLE Filed May 20, 1939 InvenfOr:
Patented July 9, 1940 UNITED STATES 2,207,574 I DOUBLE TWIST rrwrsmo srnv'nnn Otto Bochmann, Remscheid-Lennep, Germany assignor to Barmer Maschinenfabrik, Aktiengesellschaft, Wuppertal-Oberbarmen, Germany Application May 26, 1939, Serial No. 274,790 In Germany May 24, 1938 1 Claim. (Cl. 57-58) This invention relates to a double twist twisting spindle, in which the thread guide and the bobbin holder connected therewith are held stationary, that is do not participate in the rotation 5 of the spindle. The stationary bobbin holder serves for receiving the creel bobbin, whereas the stationary thread guide serves on the one hand for guiding the thread balloon and on the other hand for taking up the weight for keeping the two parts stationary; The thread guide, which is mostly of bell shape, is closed at its upper end, that is towards the creel bobbin, so that this bobbin can only be set on the bobbin holder projecting beyond the thread guide. Alone this construction of the spindle results in a very great constructional height. According to the working process for which such a double twist twisting spindle is to be used, it is desirable to accommo date within the thread .balloon a creel bobbin with the greatest possible quantity of thread. Seeing that, however, as mentioned above, the creel bobbinrests on the thread guide in the known double twist twisting spindles, the size or the creel bobbin soon reaches its maximum limit.
Every increase in the size of the bobbin is accompanied by a corresponding enlargement of the thread balloon, with the result that the air resistance to the thread balloon increases corre 40 hand would jeopardize the economical operation.
The object of the present invention is to design a double twist twisting spindle of the above mentioned type so as to enagle the accommodation of the largest possible quantities of thread within the thread balloon without causing detrimental effects. The invention proper consists in that the stationary thread guide for accominodating the creel bobbin is constructed as an open bell and the creel bobbin rests on the bottom of the bell. At the same time it is advisable. to arrange on the bottom of the bell a base-like projection on which the creel bobbin is set and centred. It the thread guide is held still we weight, this may be accommodated within the sleeve-shaped creel bobbin. v
I By this construction it is possible to accommolapse of the thread balloon. Another advantage is, that in working up larger quantities of thread all reduction in the speed of rotation of the spindie is avoided so--that the full capacity of a dou-. ble twist twisting spindle according to the in- Consequently, it is possible to per-' vention is maintained. Consequently the present invention ensures the possibility of advantageously and perfectly workingup large quantitles of thread.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in longitudinal section in the only figure of the accompanying drawing.
A thread accumulating ring 2 is arranged on and rotates with the rotary spindle I, which ring guides into the balloon the thread 4 unwinding from the creel bobbin 3. The twisting'spindle also carries the stationary thread guide 5 and the bobbin holder 6 which is also stationary. The thread guide 5 is constructed as a bell with its open side upwardly directed and has on its bottom an upwardly projecting base I for receiving the creel bobbin. The creel bobbin 3 in the form of construction rests on the bottom of the open bell 5. The thread guide 5 and the creel bobbin 3 are kept stationary preferably by aweight 8 which, in this instance, is accommodated in the interior of the creel bobbin and consequently does not require .any additional space. By this measure it is possible, to considerably increase the size of the creel bobbin and consequently the quantity of thread within the balloon, without influencing the height of the spindle and consequently the size of the thread balloon.
I claim:
A double twist twisting spindle comprising in combination a rotary spindle, an accumulating ring mounted on and rotatable with said spindle,-
maintaining stationary said thread guide and.
said creel bobbin.
