Application November 29, 1937, Serial No. 177,064
4 Claims.
This invention relates to a holder for a plurality of tooth brushes or for the receptacles or containers of such brushes, and its principal object is to provide a simplified, low cost, conveniently and economically manufacturable, conveniently and readily utilizable, strong, durable, and improved holder for the aforesaid purpose.
Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.
lo In the accompanying drawing- Fig. 1 is a side elevation, partly in cross-section, of the holder constituting the invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary front elevation, showing a portion of the holder.
15 Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same portion of the holder, with the parts shown in cross-section and in relatively diiTerent position.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the holder shown in Fig. 1.
20 Fig. 5 is an elevation showing a modification of the invention.
The holder 4 is provided with a bracket 2 having a flange ('3 which may be secured to a wall or fixture in any convenient location, and said 25 bracket has a vertical portion l thereof constituting a hanger. A drum 5 having an annular wall 6 and roof is rotatably mounted upon the hanger 4, by means of centrally located bearing 8 formed in said roof fitting revolubly around. the
terminal 9 of the hanger which acts as a journal, and a thumb-bolt lil threading into the hanger at H and its shoulder l2 bearing against the underside of roof l to maintain the rotatable drum 5 in place against downward dislocation,
35 as illustrated.
The wall 6 of the drum 5 is configurated to form a plurality of flat plates it, each of which is provided with an extension it above the roof 1, a centrally located projecting pin I5 thereat,
40 and a rim it formed about said pin. For each rimmed extension M there is provided a locking casing l'i having a vertical lug is at its rear which passes through a guiding hole 59 formed in the roof 1, whereby the casing H is thus slid- 45 able upwardly and downwardly from a position shown in Fig. 1 to clear the extension Hi to that shown in Fig. 3 wherein it completely envelops the extension, its pin Hi, and rim l5. A pin 20 passing transversely through the terminal of lug 50 I8 abuts against the underside of roof 1, and thereby serves to arrest the upward slidable movement of said lug and of the casing H. The pin 15 and rims it are adapted to receive an apertured terminal 2! of a tooth-brush handle 55 22 or a tooth-brush holder 23.
When utilizing the holder I, the member of the household rotates the drum 5 to bring forward any available retaining plate It for the tooth-brush and then suspends the brush 22 or its retainer 23 upon the pin It, by uplifting 5 the casing i! to clear the pin and extension l4 and then sliding the casing backwardly downwardly over said extension, to thereby lock the terminal 25 of the brush or retainer to the drum 5, and when it is desired to remove the brush for use the same described operation is reversed to unlock it from the holder.
In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the drum 5 is supported upon a post 25 having a base 26 and is rotatably mounted upon said post by the terminal 9 of the latter passing through its hearing 8 and the thumb-bolt ill threading into the post 25 and against the upper face of the roof 7.
Variations may be resorted to Within the scope of the invention.
Having thus described our invention, we claim:-
1. A holder for tooth brushes and tooth brush retainers having the combination of a bracket,
a framing rotatable on said bracket, said framing having a plurality of means for attaching said tooth brushes and retainers thereto, and means for locking each tooth brush and tooth brush retainer to the associated attaching means including a member slidably mounted upon said 30 framing to move from a position of exposing said attaching means for joining the brush and re tainer thereto and to return to a position of covering the attaching means and effect a locking of the brush and retainer tothe attaching means.
2. A holder for tooth brushes and tooth brush retainers having the combination of a bracket, a framing rotatable on said bracket, said framing having a plurality of means for attaching said tooth brushes and retainers thereto, and means for locking each tooth brush and tooth brush retainer to the associated attaching means including a member mounted on said framing to move away from said attaching means for joining the brush and retainer thereto and to return to a position of locking of the brush and retainer to the attaching means.
3. A holder for tooth brushes and tooth brush retainers having the combination of an upright post, a drum comprising a roof and annular wall, said drum being rotatable upon said post with said wall surrounding the post, said Wall having a plurality of means for attaching tooth brushes and retainers thereto, and means for locking each tooth brush and tooth brush retainer to the a plurality of means for attaching tooth brushes and retainers thereto, and means for locking each tooth brush and tooth brush retainer to the associated attaching means including a member mounted on said drum to move away from said attaching means for joining the brush and retainer thereto and to return to a position of locking of the brush and retainer to the attaching means.
