Abstract

503,969. Folding seats; brackets. STEVENS, T. J. Oct. 30, 1937, No. 29694. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (v)] A seat 1 is carried by arms 3, 4 extending from a column 5 which is rotatably and slidably mounted on a guide member 6 and supported in a base or floor socket 9, and which forms the sole support of the seat and is, held against rotation when the seat is turned into position for use by a projection 14 dropping into a locking or retaining recess. The socket 9 may have three recesses spaced apart by 90‹, and the upper edge of the wall of the socket may slope from the middle recess 11 to the outer recesses 12. The pillar 5 may be inclined so as to cause the seat to swing to one side or the other when the pin 14 is lifted from the central notch. A retaining cap 15, Fig. 6, may be fitted over the socket 9.
