EUGENE TOLLNER, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO HALL BLAIR & 00., OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT lN CIGAR-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 211.6 14, dated January 28, 1879; application filed November 4, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGENE TOLLNER, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have made an invention of a new and useful Reversible Cigar-Box; and that the following, taken in connection with the drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description and specification of the same.
The object of my invention is to produce a reversible cigar-box, which has greater facilities for displaying the goods, and which occupies practically no more space than the ordinary cigar-box and it consists in the combination of a partition with the walls, covers, and flaps of a cigar-box, as hereinafter set forth.
In order that the invention may be fully understood, I have represented in the accompanying drawings, and will proceed to describe, a box embodying it.
Figure 1 represents a perspective View of my reversible cigar-box. Fig. 2 represents a cross-section of the same.
The reversible cigar-box A (represented in the said drawings) has a partition, B, which divides the box into two parts, thereby forming a double box, and this partition is secured to the end walls, 0 O, of the box. This box has two covers, D D, which are hinged to the side walls, E E, as represented in Fig. 1. To these side walls, E E, are hinged flaps F F at the dividing-line of this partition, and these flaps, when closed, are held into position by clasps a, as shown in Fig. 2 of said drawings.
If desired, the covers may be nailed down, and the flaps used as covers by placing the box on its side. The partition that divides the box would then be in a vertical position or the flaps may be nailed up in place, and only the covers of the box be used. In this case the partition would occupy a horizontal position in the box.
I claim as my in vention- As a new article of manufacture, the reversible cigar-box hereinbefore described, composed of the partition B, the end walls, 0 O, the side walls, E E, the hinged covers D I), and the hinged flaps F F, constructed and arranged substantially as hereinbefore set forth.
