TABLE SLIDE Filed June 20, 1935 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 Nov. 26, 1935. C, D. LANUM TABLE SLIDE Filed June 20, 1935 2 sheds-sheet 2 Patented Nov. 26, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in table slides and has for its primary object to provide a more satisfactory slide to extend table leaves from the ends of the table than any device for this purpose now in use.
With the foregoing and other objects in View that will appear as the nature of my invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, in which like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a bottom plan View, partly in section, illustrating the application of my invention, with the table shown in closed position.
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section,
taken on line 2 2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2, with the table shown in extended position.
Figure 4 is a detail fragmentary section, showing the slide guide and associated parts.
Figure 5 is a detail view of one of the slides. Figure 6 is a similar view of the other slide. Figure 'l is a vertical transverse section, taken on line 1 1 of Figure 2 and Figure 8 is a vertical transverse section, taken on line 8--8 of Figure 3. Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention and in which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, the numeral I0 designates the table top, Il the leaves, I2 the top support and leaf stop, 2| the supporting legs, 20 the side rails which extend between and are fastened to the supporting legs and I9 the end rails which extend transversely between and are also fastened to the supporting legs.
A pair of corresponding laterally spaced slide guides I6 extend longitudinally between the end rails I8 and are each formed in opposite faces with routed tracks or grooves 22 and 23, re-
spectively, in which the dowel pins II and I8 of the slides I3 work. The slides I3 are formed with straight botto-m edges a and irregular or stepped upper edges b and the dowel pins are positioned at exact pre-determined points along the length of the slides.
In carrying out my invention, two pairs of slides I3 are employed. The inner pair of slides are held in proper spaced relation and their dowel pins I'I and I8 kept in engagement with the respective tracks or grooves 22 and 23 of the 5 guides I6 at all times by the cross bar or support. The dowel pins I1 and I8 of the outside pair of slides I3 are kept in proper place by the Vertical depending vguide blocks I4, secured to the top support I2. I9 are formed with suitable notches or recesses d in which the outer ends of the slides I3 work.
In practice, when the end leaves II are pulled out, as illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawings, the dowel pins Il and I8 working in the grooves 15 22 and 23, cause the leaves to raise on a level with the table top and these leaves are locked in this position by the pins I8 finally seating in the hook-shaped outer ends of the grooves 22.
From the foregoing description taken in con- 20 nection with the drawings, it is thought that the construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportions and 25 minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principles or sacricing any of the advantages of my invention, as defined in the appended claim. 30
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In combination with the top, supporting legs and the side and end rails of a table, a pair of laterally spaced guides, extending longitudinally 35 between the end rails, said guides formed in opposite faces with longitudinal tracks or grooves having elevated end portions, corresponding pairs of inner and outer slides provided with laterally projecting dowel pins, working in the tracks or 40 grooves of said guides, leaves fastened to the outer ends of said slides, a cross bar to prevent dis-engagement of the dowel pins of the inner slides with the corresponding tracks or grooves of the guides and guide blocks depending from 45 the top support to prevent dis-engagement of the dowel pins of the outer slides with the coacting tracks or grooves of the guides.
