This invention relates to a refectory table in which a frame-work having legs is provided with centrally disposed means on the table frame for supporting the table top, thus providing a slot between the opposed sides or ends of the table top, in which slots are adapted to be nested extension leaves, and which leaves are provided with slides, and also suitable guiding members are mounted on the table frame cooperating with the slides on the bottom of the leaves, for guiding the same from a nested position beneath the table top to an extended position where they will occupy the same plane as the main table top.
It is an object of this invention to provide a refectorytable having extension leaves at the two sides thereof which are adapted to be pulled out from beneath the table top and be guided into a position where they will occupy the same plane as the table top and have the inner edges thereof abutting against the edges of the main table top. The table frame and the nestable leaves have cooperating guiding means for guiding the leaves from nested position to a position where the leaves will occupy the same plane as the table top and abut against the opposed ends of the table top. a 7
Although in the drawings the main table is shown as having the refectory leaves mounted at each end thereof, the main portion of most refectory tables are made so that the breadth is greater than their length and the refectory leaves are usually mounted at the sides of the table top, but these refectory leaves can be mounted to slide out at the ends of the table, as well as at the sides of the table, as the same principle is involved.
Some of the objects of the invention having been stated, other objects will appear as the description proceeds when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which I Figure 1 is an isometric view of my improved refectory table showing one of the leaves extended and one nested and with portions broken away to show one of the slide assemblies;

Referring more specifically to the drawin s, the numerals l0 and H indicate side frame members of a table while the numerals l2 and I2 indicate the end frame members of the table which are suitably secured to uprising legs l5, l6, l1 and I8. Secured on top of the side frame members l0 and II by any suitable means, is a board 20 on top of which is suitably secured a main table top 2|.
The table top 2 I' has its opposite edges projecting beyond the edges of the board 20, thus providingrecesses 22 and 22' beneath each end of the table top 2| to receive nesting or refectory leaves 25 and 25. In the drawings the refectory or nesting leaf 25 is shown in extended position while the leaf 25' is shown in nested position, but, of course, it is to be understood that in use, possibly both of the refectory leaves 25 and 25' will be moved to extended position when the table is desired to be extended as to length or width depending upon the shape of the main table top 2|.
The main portion of the table having been described, the means for mounting the refectory leaves will be described, and the left-hand end of the table, such as shown in the drawings, will be described and like reference characters will apply to the right-hand end with the prime notation added. Also, since the sliding mechanisms on both sides of the table at each end thereof are identical, except for opposite hand arrangement of the same on each end of the table, like reference characters will apply to all of the slide assemblies.

an inner portion 49 which is slightly inclined upwardly as it is directed towards the centeror the table, and at the outer end of the slot portion 43 it is merged with an upwardly and outwardly inclined slot portion 42 which-merges with a horizontally disposed slot 33 disposed immediately below the top web of the leaf guide member The frame guide member 3| has fixedly mount ed therein a stud 45 comprising a circular portion 46 adapted to have movement in the slot portions 40, 42 ands}; and this stud or rivet has an enlarged head portion d1 which prevents dislodgement of the portion 46 from the slot por tions 4!), 42 and 33. The leaf guide member 39 has likewise mounted therein a stud or rivet 50 which has a portion 52 adapted to slidably move in the slot portions 33, 3d and 35 and has an enlarged head 54 which confines the portion 52 1 within the slot portions 33, 34 and 35.
, In cutting the slot portions 33, 3d and 35, there is leftj an unsupported tongue 6!] and inorder to properly support this tongueiiii I, provide a rivet 6| which penetrates a spacer collar 62 which is disposed betweenthe tongue 68 and a plate 63 which is welded between the side angles of the frame guide member 3i, and the rivet 6i hasits ends bradded on the outer surfaces of thetongue 6B and the plate 63 to'thus properly support the tongue 63 to keep it from being bent laterally. In the drawingsl and specification there has been setforth a preferred embodiment of the invention, and although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only and notfor purposes of limitation, the scope of the invention being defined in the claims Iclaim't h In a refectory table slide frame consisting o'f a frame guide member having inner and outer ends and having a ,J-shaped guiding slot out therein, theou'ter end o'fwhich is directed'upwardly and then inwar ly, a leaf guide member disposed alongside the frame guide member and having an inwardly projecting portion provided with a slot near its inner endwhich extends slightly downwardly as it progresses toward the outer end of the leaf guide member and then projects upwardly and outwardly and then extends horizontallyioutwardly toward the outer end of the leaf guideinember, a guiding pin secured on the frame guide'me'mber and'having movement in the slot in'the' leaf guide member frame guide member, the two slots in the frame guide member and the leaf guide member being in super-posed offset relation substantially throughout their length when the slidable leaf guide member is in extended position relative to the frame guide member, the lower wall of the short leg of the J-shaped slot having a cam surface thus diminishing its width to elevate the leaf guide member as its guiding pin is moved toward the closed end of the short leg of the J-shaped slot.
2. In a refectory table slide frame consisting of a frame guide member and a leaf guide member, the frame guide member having a J-shaped slot therein disposed in a vertical plane with the long leg thereof being lowermost and the upper leg thereof being near the outer end of the frame guide member and directly inwardly, the frame guide member having a slot extending outwardly and downwardly, then upwardly and then outwardly, and a pair of guiding pins for the frame guide member and leaf guide member, there being one disposed in each of the members and having movement in the slot in the adjacent member, the two slots in the frame guide member and the 6 leaf guide member being in super-posed offset relation substantially throughout their length when the leaf guide member is in extended position, and movable latching means provided adjacent the short leg of the J-shaped slot for engaging the guiding pin disposed in the J -shaped slot for latching the leaf guide member in extended position.
