The object of the present invention is to 'provide a removable lingerie shoulder strap adapted to be detached from agarment for laundering purposes and equipped at each end with a double hook for supporting two garments and also adjustable in length to cover a wide range'of'dress lengths for heights of Women.

A further object of the invention is to provide a removable, adjustable shoulder-strap pro-v vided with an ladjusting buckle having'mveans for detachably receiving and holding a lingerie clasp to enable a lingerie clasp to be attached to the shoulder strap intermediate of the ends thereof when more than one shoulder strap is required.

With these and other objects invi'ew, the invention consists in the construction and novel shoulder strap constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. v2 is a longitudinal sectional view on' the line. 2-2 of Fig. l.

In the accompanying drawingl in which is illus-j trated the preferred embodiment of the inven-l tion 1 designates a shoulder strap consisting or" a strip of ribbon or any other suitable material and having one end doubledon itself to form a loop 2`which is adapted to be varied inlength to vary the length of thejshoulderj strapv to suit garments of different lengths and women of dierent heights. The adjustmentv of' the shoulder strap is eiected by lmeans of an ad-v justing buckle 3 consisting of a dat plate or body of metalpr other suitablematerial and provided withvertically or longitudinally spaced transverse slots 4 forming an intermediate, transversely-extending, central bar 5 to which the free end ofthe loop 2 is secured by being passed -around the bar' and secured to one side of theV loop 2 by stitches' 6,v as clearly illustrated in Fig. y2 of the drawing, but any other suitable nmeans' may of course be'employed for securing vone side of the loop 2 to the adjusting buckle.

The auxiliary loop 7 .which receives the cene tralbar 5 of the adjusting ubuckle is of sufficient size to permit a lingerie clasp 8 to be readily connected to and' removed from the adjusting buckle as hereinafter fully explained. The body portion of the-shoulder strap is passed through the'transverse slots 4 which in practice will be sufficiently narrow to create the necessaryfriction and binding action on the material of the shoulder strap to hold thev same securely in its adjustment.' l,

The adjusting buckleof the shoulder strap is provided at its inner orrear face with trans-V versely spaced pairs of vertically or longitudi-A nally spaced approximately i shaped` lugs 9 formed integral with and extending'rearwardly from the body portion ofthe adjusting buckle, and more particularly witlrand from the transversely extending intermediate central bar 5 of the buckle. Said L-shaped lugs are formed by partially severing the metal and then bending the partly severed portionsrearwardly with re-v spect to the inner or rear face of the adjusting buckle and then in a longitudinal direction at right angles'towrad each other to provide a catch or lip kandtothereby complete or form soi the`subst'antially L-shaped lugs,l as clearly illusA trated'in'lig.l 5 of the drawing. f

yThe size 'ofthe' auxiliary loop 'l will permit the lingeriey clasp to be readily engaged with'and dis-'i engaged from' the lugs 9 and after the lingerie clasp is engaged with the lugs 9 the end shoulders l1 will abut against the inner side vedges offthe lugs 9 and prevent'the lingerie clasp from'A sliding longitudinally out of 'engagementl-wth the lugs. Ihe lug clasp is adapted to be'u'sed when two slioulder'strap'sv are required and 'it will engage one of the shoulder straps so that both shoulder straps will be held together. The attachment of the lug clasp to the adjusting buckle does not interfere with the adjustment of the shoulder straps to vary the length of the latter. The shoulder strap is provided at each end with a double hook 13 for enabling the shoulder strap to support two garments. 16 and 17 extending inopposite directions from the said front and rear faces of the double hook. The

16 and 17 are formed integral with the plate or body of the double hook. The upper hook 16 consists of a tongue partially severed fromfthe plate or body and bent into hook form as clearly illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawing and the lower hook is formed by bending the terminal portion ofl the stem 15 upwardly as clearly illustrated` in Fig. 3 of the drawing.

One of the double hooks is linked into the loop 2` .y of theshoulder strap which passesthrough the slot 14. rof such double hook and` the terminal portion 18 at the other end of the'shoulder strap is passed throughthe slot of the other double hook and secured by stitching 19. This forms an A; auxiliary loop 2i)V to engage in the slot 14 of one of the. double hooks.

The upper andlower hooks of the double hook are located one above thervother and they are adaptedto engage metal eyes 21 of tabs 22 designed to be secured permanently to a garment. The metal-eyes 21 each consist of aplate having a slot 23 to receive the tab 22 which islocpedand passed throughrthe slot 23. The sides ofthe tab are secured together by lines of stitching 211,Y and the tab is designed to be stitched or otherwise securedftoa garment. The eye 21 is provided above the slot with asubstantially circular opening` 25 whichv 1s-adapted to be engaged` by one of the hooks of the double hook for. detachably securing the shoulder strap to a garment to enablethe shoulder strap to be removed ywhen the garment is to be laundered. 2. A shoulder strap having an adjusting buckle provided at its inner face with means for detachably receiving and holding a lingerie clasp, and-a lingerie clasp detachably engaged with the. said means and secured by the same to the adjusting buckle and adapted to engage a second shoulder.

A shoulder strap provided at its ends with double., hooks each having a lower transversely reducedportion forming a stem having its terminal portion hent upwardly to form a lower hook, said stem being provided abovevthe4 lower hook with an integral tongue bent upwardly to form an upper hook and extended in the opposite direction from the lower hook, saidupper and lower hooks being adapted toengage eyes of garments whereby the shoulder strap will support two garments.
