Referring now.v to the drawingsin detailwand I first to the form. of the invention illustrated .in :5 Figs. 1 to-4,-thetbrassiere-bandeau constructed in'accordance with the presentinvention com- ,prises a -:body encircling .member having an inner .frontpartslfl which forms vaubusttsupport .and \which-ras here ashownis of a type ,havingbreast 10 ,poekets.or:bust cup 2. HI and to provide an ornamental-bow :24 as .illustrated in Fig: 1. .Thus it will .be understood thatin the :brassire-ban- -.deauthe bustsupport I 0=canbe.fastened in-posi ilionwithathe desired degree oftightness in .ac-

Front-portions l8 may be-cut and :stitched as indicated at :31 to provide a troundedgfullness rat the breastsof the wearer.
'Thewupper pointed -ends-26 of the portions i'.8=. of: the: outer front part I 5 are detachably secured in any suitable way as by adjustable'buckles -28to companion shoulder straps 38 which. are 1 ;stitched,:-.,as: indicate'dzat' 32 inxiF'ig. 2,:or. otherwise :secured {at :"their lower ends to the companion Qbands :14 vwhich;:constitutetheflbackxpart TOf r the '555 body encirclingmember. "The .upperpointed'ends 34 of the breast pockets l2 of the bust support are adjustably secured to the upper pointed end portions 26 of outer front portions 18 in any suitable way as by adjustable buckled straps 36. Thus, laterally spaced upper edge portions of inner front part ID are adjustably secured to upper edge portions of outer front part l6 so that the breast pockets l2 can be properly positioned without interference by the outer front part N3 of the garment.
Referring now to the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. and 6, the brassiere-bandeau is constructed so that the outer front part ISA comprising the companion portions 18A is detachable from the inner front part or bust support IDA. This detachable feature can be provided by any suitable means which as here shown is constituted by buttons 38 on part IHA and by button-holes 40 on portions ISA of the outer front part ISA. It will be understood that any other separable fasteners, for example hooks and eyes, snap fasteners, slide fasteners or zippers, etc., can be used instead of the buttons and button holes on the companion detachable parts. I In this form of the invention, the shoulder straps 30A are arranged to be fastened to the upper pointed ends 34A of the breast pockets |2A of part IDA. Preferably the front ends of shoulder straps are detachably and adjustably secured to the upper ends of breast pockets [2A in any suitable way as by the adjustable and fastening devices 36A. Detachable and adjustable fastening devices suitable for this purpose are Well known in the apparel art and therefore require no further description. The upper pointed ends 26A of front portions [8A of the outer front part ISA are detachably secured to the front ends of shoulder straps 30A in any suitable way for example by providing said shoulder straps with buttons 42 and by providing upper pointed end portions of portions IBA with button holes 44. Portions [8A are tieable together at their outer end portions 22A of reduced width for securing said front portions in position and for forming a bow 24A as illustrated in Fig. 5. It will be understood that the part SA is provided with bands [4A, one of which is shown in Fig. 5, and that the two bands are detachably and adjustably secured together at the back of the wearer substantially in the same way as illustrated in Fig. 2. Also it will be understood that the shoulder straps 30A are secured to the companion bands MA substantially in the same way as illustrated in Fig. 2. If desired, the shoulder straps 30 or the shoulder straps 30A can be provided with adjustable portions at the lower rear ends thereof for adjustment of said shoulder straps. It will be noted that the front portions I8A of the garment illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 are sufliciently large to conceal the bust support and to provide greater body coverage than is provided by said bust support. In short, it will be noted that the garment illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 is substantially the same as the garment illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 and in addition provides for the removal of the front part ISA so that the other part of the garment can be worn without said front outer part IBA either as an ordinary brassire or as part of a playsuit.
In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs.
- 7 and 8, the brassiere-bandeau instead of being constructed to provide for the detachment of the front outer part from the bust support is constructed to provide for the detachment of the bust support from the garment. Thus, as here shown, the bust support IOB is constituted by the inner front part and is detachably secured at its opposite ends to the adjacent end portions 66, respectively, of the bands MB which are stitched to the companion front portions IBB of the outer front part 5B of the garment. It will be noted that the front end portions 46 of the bands [4B are disposed inwardly of the adjacent front portions l8B for securing the opposite ends of bust support IDB to the garment. End portions 46 of bands [4B are provided as here shown with buttons 38B and the ends of bust support IDB are provided with button holes MB. The upper pointed ends 343 of the breast pockets |2B of the bust support are provided with looped straps 46 detachably engageable with the hooked ends 48 of adjustable buckles 50 carried by straps 52 which are stitched to the upper pointed ends 2613 of the companion front portions l8B. In this form of the invention, a halter strap 54 is provided instead of the shoulder straps 30 and 30A, the ends of said halter strap being adjustably secured to the pointed upper ends 26B of the front portions [83 of the outer part of the garment. It will be noted that front portion I813 of the outer part IBB are large enough to conceal the bust support I03 and to provide greater body coverage than is afforded by the bust support. Also it will be understood that the bust support can be detached from the garment so that the latter can be worn if desired without said bust support MB, in which case the front portions I8B can be fastened together at the front of the wearer with the desired degree of tightness on the body of the wearer and also to form the ornamental bow 203.
It will be noted that in each of the forms of the invention the bands which are positioned at the back of the wearer are common to the inner and outer parts of the garment thus making it unnecessary to provide both parts of the garments with back portions and thus also improving the appearance of the garment on the wearer. Further, it will be observed that the brassire-bandeau of the present invention is constructed in each form thereof so that the bust support can be adjusted to suit the preference of the wearer without interference by the outer front part of the garment. It will be noted also that the end portions 22 (or 22A or 223) of the front part of the garment can be tied together independently of the bust support or said end portions can be tied together around the narrow portion I3 between the breast pockets 12.
It will be understood that the invention may be embodied in various forms other than those herein specifically illustrated or described and that in the illustrated forms certain changes in the details of the construction and in the arrangement of parts may be made without departng from the principles or underlying idea of the invention within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A garment comprising a body encircling member having a bust supporting part and outer front portions extending forwardly from the opposite sides of the garment to lie over the bust supporting part in movable relation thereto, said front portions being separable from each other and constructed and arranged to be attached to each other at their adjacent ends, said bust supporting part comprising breast pockets, and means adjustably securing the upper edge portions of said breast pockets to upper edge portions, respectively, of said outer front portions, said front portions being detachable from said body encircling member.
2. A garment comprising a body encircling member having a bust supporting part and outer front portions extending forwardly from the opposite sides of the garment to lie over the bust supporting part in movable relation thereto, said front portions being separable from each other and constructed and arranged to be attached to each other at their adjacent ends, said bust supporting part comprising breast pockets, said bust supporting part being detachably connected at its opposite ends in said body encircling member, and means connected to laterally spaced points adjacent upper front edge of the body encircling I member for holding the latter against downward movement on the wearer.
