Description

y 1934- E. JACOB, GEE. SCHULZE 61,048
BRASS IERE Filed Nov.
He ArToRNEY Patented May 29, 1934 UNITED; STATES PATENT OFFICE Application November 3, 1932, Serial No. 641,055 In Germany November 3, 1931 2 Claims. (01. 242) j Many attempts have been madetoprovide corslets, brassires and the like for supporting the bosom in its natural position. However, I have found that prior art devices have generally fallen short of attaining this goal.
Heretofore, solution of the above aim has been sought by using materials having elastic properties, some being more or less porous. Fabrics have also been used, which perforce must be more rigid than the muscle fibres. These also have not attained popularity because their users have found that pressure exerted upon the tender dermatogen and tissue of the breasts is very harmful.
The present invention has for its primary object and aim the construction of a brassiere of light porous material which will maintain the breasts in their normai condition and without the undesirable features of prior art devices.
In the accompanying drawing a preferred embodiment is shown and to which attention is now directed and in which:
Fig. 1 is an external front view of the opened garment; y
Fig. 2 is an internal view of the opened garment.
Fig. 3 is a view showing the garment as worn on the body.
The brassiere is characterized by a pair of tapered, fabric members a each terminating in securing straps or ribbons b. The members a are joined to each other to extend over the front of the body of the user below the breasts. One of the members a is provided with a slot 0 thru which one of the ribbons or straps b is passed for holding the device on the body (see Fig. 3). Stitched to members a at f and g is a breast cover provided with a pair of pockets e'the latter having loose ends e adapted to be crossed at a point intermediate the breasts. thru a slit in to the inner side of the cover for attachment to the upper edge thereof by means of connector strips 2'. As shown shoulder straps cl Each'of the ends e passes are also provided to properly hold the device when worn.
With the construction above described the pockets maintain each breast in its normal position without pressure thereon.
From the above it will be seen that numerous advantages arise from the construction shown.
I claim:-- v
1. A brassire of the character described having a portion thereof adapted to pass below the breasts, and a breast cover, provided with a pair of breast supporting members having loose ends, secured to the aforesaid portion, the loose ends being crossed adjacent the upper edge of the cover and secured to the inner face of said edge.
2. A brassiere of the character described having a portion thereof adapted to pass below the breasts, and a breast cover, provided with a pair of breast supporting members having loose ends, secured to the aforesaid portion, the cover having slits,- the ends being crossed adjacent the upper edge of the cover andpassing thru the slits and secured to the inner face of said edge.
