UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUSTUS A. FISHER AND SIMEON H. LUCAS, OF SANTA FE, TERRITORY OF NEW MEXICO.
IMPROVEMENT m COMBINED PUSH-PIN AND WATCH-KEV.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,425, dated June 26, 1877 application filed March 3, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, AUGUSTUS A. FISHER and SIIMEON H. LUCAS, of Santa Fe, in the county of Santa F and Territory of New Mexico, have invented a new and Improved Combined Push-Pin and Watch-Key, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention consists in a removable push pin for watches, which is provided with spring for holding it in place in the stem of the watch, andwith a watch-key point at its inner end which may conveniently be used for winding the watch.
Referring to the drawing, which is an enlarged sectional view of a watch-stem containing our improved push-pin and key, A isthe stem of a watch, which is chambered out, leaving an internal angular edge, a, at the top of the stem. B is a push-pin, having the milled head b, and into the inner end of which a steel watch-key point, 0, is screwed. The push-pin and is grooved longitudinally from this point to the head to receive the wire-spring d. This spring extends upward at each side of the push-pin, and is notched to receive the edge a of the watchstem. The notches are of suificient width to permit of moving the push-pin sufficiently to operate the case-spring.
When it is desired to wind the watch, the key is drawn from the watch-stem and used as an ordinary key. When the point 0 becomes worn or broken it may readily be unscrewed and replaced by a new one.
The advantages claimed for our invention are, that it obviates the complication of steur winders, and at the same time provides a key that always accompanies the watch.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The push-pin having a watch-key point and notched retaining-spring, in combination with the chambered stem of a watch, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
AUGUSTUS A. FISHER. SIMEON H. LUCAS.
