This invention relates to a magazine of repeating rifles having afcartridge guide pivoted to. the magazine. This cartridge guide is pressed down by the foreward moving breech bolt and raised in its cartridge guiding position by a spring after the opening of the breech.

By the Patent No. 1,749,726. a cartridge guide became known which was pivoted to the casing of the weapon and extended to the front of the magazine to accomplish its task. The new arrangement according to the present invention has techincal and commercial advantages in comparison with the known arrangements. One of the technical effects is that by the conjunction of the cartridge guide with the magazine a constant relative position of these two parts is assured, which can never be the case in an arrangement in which the guide is independently secured from the magazine. The aforesaid constant relative position of the car tridge guide to the magazine is of importance for the operation as the cartridges are to be guided from the magazine to the loading chamber. A further technical effect is that by the arrangement of the guide on the magazine, the lever arm or the link bearing the guiding-surface at the known riflesis avoided. By this the cartridge guide becomes smaller, simpler, as well as more reliable, and in consequence of these also cheaper which constitutes the commercial effect.

In the accompanying drawing'three forms of the invention are shown by way of eX- ample. Fig. 1 is a partial side View, partially in section, of one form of the magazine and parts of the rifle with the breech opened. Fig. 2 is the same view but with the breech closed. 40 Fig. 3 is a front view of the magazine of the rifle according to Figs. 1 and 2. Figs. 4 and 5 are partial side views of other forms of the invention.

On the magazine 1 are eyes 2 to which the eyes 3 of the cartridge guide 4 are pivotally secured. A torsional spring 5 presses the cartridge guide in its guiding position, the turns of said spring surrounding the pivot of the guide 4. In order to limit the upward movement of the cartridge guide 4 a projection 6 is provided at the shown forms of the inven- 7 tion. If the breach bolt 7 is shifted forwardly, the guide 4 is pressed down against the action of the spring 5 (see Fig. 2) while at the opening of the breech this guide is lifted in the guiding position.

In the form shown in Fig. 4 the spring 5 is a spiral one and presses against the wall of the magazine and against a projection 9 of the guide 4,'said projection forming the control lever of the cartridge guide.

According to Fig. 5 the guide 4 has a tappet 10, which is pressed upwardly by the spring 5 by way of a bolt 8. The spring 5 and bolt 8 are led in a sleeve 11 of the magazine. I claim: 1. In a magazine for repeating rifles having a breech bolt, a cartridge guide pivotally mounted on said magazine and adapted to be pressed down by the forwardly shifted breech bolt, and a spring adapted to press upwardly said guide in its guiding position. 7

2. In a magazine for repeating rifles h'aving a breech bolt, a cartridge guide pivotally mounted on said magazine and adapted to be pressed down by the forwardly shifted breech bolt, and a torsional spring situated on the pivot of said guide andadapted to press upwardly said guide in its guiding position.

. 3. In a magazine for repeating rifles having a breech bolt, a cartridge guide pivotally mounted on said magazine and adapted to be pressed down by the forwardly shifted breech bolt, a lever formed by said guide, and a spring adapted to press upwardly said guide in its guiding position by acting on said lever.

4. In a magazine for repeating rifles having a breech bolt, a cartridge guide pivotal- 7 1y mounted on said'magazine and adapted to be pressed down by the forwardly shifted breech bolt, and a spring controlled bolt adapted to press upwardly said guide in its guiding position.
