This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a handbag.

The invention has for an object the construction of a handbag which is characterized by material forming a handbag with a flap cover having a substantially pointed portion composed of layers, and a disc disposed between said layers and having different colored sectors and adjustable so that the sectors are selectively viewable through a cutout on the outer layer. This arrangement allows for changing the appearance of the bag by turning the disc to a different color section. Such an arrangement undoubtedly would ap peal to purchasers.

As a still further object of this invention it is proposed to attach a tubular element axially upon the disc and to extend it through the inner layer of the flap cover for pivotally supporting the disc.

Furthermore, it is proposed to mount a snap fastener stud upon the extended end of the tubular element for the purpose of holding the disc rota-tively in place and for engagement with a complementary snap fastener socket element attached upon the bag so that the cover may be held closed.

Another one of the objects of this invention is to arrange a cutout on the inner layer and a second disc with sectors of diflerent colors so that a combination of different designs may be produced.

A still further object of this invention is o the construction of an article of the class described which is of simple durable construction, dependable in use and efiicient in operation and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and. advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following de scription and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various 5 novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

The handbag consists of material 10 in the form of a handbag having a flap cover 11 with a substantially pointed portion 12.

This flap cover is composed of layers as, for example, an outer layer 13 and an inner layer 1 1-. The outer layer preferably should be the leather or other material from which the handbag is constructed and the layer 14 the customary lining.

A disc 15 is disposed between the layers 13 and 1 1 and has different colored sectors. For example, it may have four sectors as shown in Fig. 3 of white, blue, red and black, respectively. The sectors of the disc 15 are selectively viewable through a cutout 16 on the outer layer 13. A tubular member 17 is moulded into or in any other manner secured axially upon the disc and extends through the inner layer 1 1. A snap fastener stud 18 is clamped on upon the free end of the tubular member. This snap fastener stud is coactable with a snap fastener socket 19 attached upon the front face 20 of the handbag.

Particular attention is called to the ar rangement of the tubular member 17 which passes through the layer 14 for the purpose of rotatively supporting the disc 15 and for receiving the snap fastener stud. Thus, the snap fastener stud has a suitable anchorage and at the same time serves to rotatively hold the tubular member 17 upon the layer 1 1.

In Fig. 4, a modified arrangement of the invention has been disclosed in which a disc 90 15 has an axial tubular member 17 projecting therefrom and extending through an axial opening in a second disc 20. The discs 15 and 20 are adjacent each other and disposed in between the layers 13 and 141. The inner layer 14 is formed with a cutout portion 21 so that a sector area of the disc 20 is exposed from the inner side of the flap cover. A snap fastener stud 18 is engaged upon the free end of the tubular member 17 for rotatively holding the discs in place and for coaction with a snap fastener socket similar to the arrangement of Fig. 2. The advantage of the double disc lies in that fact that one color may be exposed to view from the front of the flap 11 and a second color from the rear.

While I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity, I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I therefore reserve the right and privilege of changing the form of the details of construction or otherwise altering the arrangement of the correlatedparts without departing from the spirit or the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is 1. A handbag, comprising material in the form of a handbag and having a flap cover with a substantially pointed area and composed of layers, a disc disposed between said layers and formed with different colored sectors selectively viewable through a cutout in the outer layer of said flap cover, and a tubular member attached axially on said disc and extending through the inner layer of said flap cover.

A handbag, comprising material in the form of a handbag and having a flap cover with a substantially pointed area and composed of layers, a disc disposed between said layers and formed with different colored sectors selectively viewable through a cutout in the outer layer of said flap cover, and a tubular member attached axially 011 said disc and extending through the inner layer of said flap cover, a snap fastener stud being engaged upon the free end of said tubular member and being coactable with a snap fastener socket mounted upon the front side of said handbag.

A handbag, comprising material in the form of a handbag and having a flap cover with a substantially pointed area and composed of layers, a disc disposed between said layers and formed with difierent colored sectors selectively viewable through a cutout in the outer layer of said flap cover, and a tubular member attached axially on said disc and extending through the inner layer of said flap cover, said tubular member being g oulded into the material which forms said 4. A andbag, comprising material in the form of a handbag and having a flap cover with a substantially pointed area and composed of layers, a disc disposed between said layers and formed with different colored sectors selectively viewable through a cutout in the outer layer of said flap cover, a tubular member attached axially on said disc and extending through the inner layer of said flap cover, a second disc adjacent said disc and rotatively mounted axially on said tubular member and having different colored sectors selectively viewable from a cutout in the inner layer, and a snap fastener stud mounted upon the free end of said tubular member for coaction with a snap fastener socket upon the front of the handbag.
