This invention relates yto means for straightening hair.

One of the features of the invention resides in a means wherebynatural curly ork kinky hair may be straightened to enable dressing of the same in modern styles and is especially adapted for use in straightening the hair of the feminine sex.

It is well known that when straight hair is wound upon a hair winding' stick and subj ected to heat while in such wound condition will cause the same to become curly and which system is commonV inthe art'of permanent waving. t is my purpose to utilize this system to straighten curly hair by tightly winding the curly hair lengthwise of a stick to secure the same in straight lengths and then subjecting the hair so held to the action of heat.

Another feature is the provision of a hair winding stick having sets of hooks on opposite sides thereof, the set on one side being staggered with respect tothe set on the opposite side to enable the compact looping of a hank of curly hair thereon. f

A further objectof the invention is the provision of a hair straightening device which is simple of construction, inexpensive of manufacture, and which may be used in association with the conventional forms of permanent hair waving machines. Y
