COMPANY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, A. CORPORATION OF NEW YORK Dom. oousrnuorron Application med February 26, 1932. Serial no. 595,408.
My invention relates to a new and improved doll construction.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a simple device whereby the inner 5 end of the limb of a doll can be suitably connected to the hollow body of a doll.
Another object of my invention is to provide an extremely simple and-eflicient ,construction.
Other objects of my invention will be set forth in the following description and drawing. which illustrate a preferred embodiment thereof.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the invention applied to the leg of a doll.
Fig. 2 is an end view. Fig. 3 is a sectional view. The hollow leg L of the doll is preferably made of resilient rubber. The inner end of the leg is provided with an opening in which a rigid button is-located. This rigid button may be made of wood, metal or the like. This rigid button has a base 1 and an outwardly flaring head 2. The inner end of the head 2 is rounded and this head 2 generally has a frusto-conical shape. The rubber inner end of the leg L is provided with a rubber rib R which tightlyengages and interlocks with the base and head of the button. When the head 2' of the button is forced through the opening provided in the inner end of the leg of the doll, said opening end is expanded and the resilient rubber thereupon tightly en- Y gages the button. A book H has its shank.
passing through the rigid button and the inner end of this hook is provided with an enlarged head 3 so that the hook cannot be pulled through the button. A device or voice sound is produced when thehollow leg L is squeezed. The hook H can be connected to an elastic cord or the like which is located in t'he hollowbody of the doll, whereby the leg is held in position with respect to the body of the doll. A
Ihave shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, butit is clear that numerous changes and omissions could be made without departing from its spirit.
V may be located in the head 2, so that a the inner end of said opening, said resilient material being shaped so as to interlock with said head and said base and to press against said tapered head. I
2. In a doll, a hollow and squeezable limb having an inner end provided with an opening, said inner end being made of resilient material, and a button located in said opening, said button having a base and a tapered head, the base being'of greater diameter than the inner end of said head, the base being also of greater diameter than said opening, said head filling said opening, said base being located behind the inner endof said opening, said resilient material being shaped so as to interlock with said head and said base and to press against said tapered head, said button having a sound-producing device located therein, said sound producing device being operated by the air currentwhich is produced when said limb is squeezed.
In'testimony'whereof I afliX my signature.
