The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a door-sill, in the manner hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, Figure 1 represents a cross-section of the sill; and Fig. 2 a plan view.
In thefigures, A represents a metallic doorsill, which is hollowed out on the under side, as seen. B represents a bottom, which is fitted into the cavity ot'the sill in such a manner that a water-space'is left between it and the sill. a a a represent outlets from this waterspace and which are formed in the front of the sill or its bottom. The upper surface of the sill is provided with a series of grooves which open into each other, and some of which radiateoutward. These grooves are marked G G, and answer the purpose of collecting and conveying the water into the holes 6 e in the bottoms of said grooves, from which it passes down to the bottom B,,,and thence out at the openings a a a. The grooves are so formed that dirt and dust may be easily swept from them outward. This sill may be used with an ordinary weather-strip D, as seen upon the section of a door in Fig. 1.
The object of this sill is to prevent the drifting of water under the door in case a strong wind is blowing toward it.
Having thus fully described. my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
