To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. GAETH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Napoleon, in the county of Lafayette, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and particularly to sectional metallic coops.

. this character constructed in such manner that" the bottom and end members may be slidably mounted upon the sides of the device with the upper slanting portions of the end members bent inwardly andthe edges of the top extending outwardly and downwardly, whereby the coop may be properly ventilated without danger of rain entering said coop.

Another object is to generally improve and simplify the construction of coops of this character and increase the efliciency thereof.

With these and other objects in view, my invention will be more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings which show a preferred embodiment of my device and then specifically pointed out in the claims which are attached to and form a part of this application.

In the drawings :-Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete device; Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section therethrough. Fig. 3 is a vertical cross sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a horizontal cross sectional view. Fig. 5 is a front elevational view with the bottom and end members removed. Fig. 6 is a detail view of the bottom member removed. Fig. .7 is a similar view of the front end member removed. 7 Fig. 8 is a similar view ofthe rear end member removed.

Referring more specifically to the drawings, in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout, 10 designates in general my improved coop, the top and sides of which are formed in one continuous piece, the lower edges of the sides 11 being rolled inwardly, as shown at 12. The vertical edges of the sides are directed upwardly at right angles, as shown at 13. The flat edges of the roof 14, which is preferably a gable roof, are directed downwardly and slightly outwardly, as shown at 15, the purpose of which will presently be clearly apparent. The side edges 17 of the bottom member 16 are suitably rolled for engagement in the rolled lower edges of the sides 11. The edges of said bottom member are turned at right angles, as shown at 18 and 19 respectively, for engagement against the front and end members which will now be described in order. The front member 20 has its vertical edges turned back, as shown at 21 for slidable engagement over the outwardly directed vertical edges 13 of the sides 11. The upper portion of the front member 20 is directed inwardly as shown at 22, and adapted for engagement inwardly of the forward edges 15 of the roof 1 1, thus permitting entrance of air through the interior of the coop but preventing the entrance of rain, as will be clearly apparent. The lower edge of the front member 20 is directed outwardly and upwardly, as shown at 23 to form a guide for the lower edges of the door member while a guide strip 24 is secured transversely upon the outer face of the front member. near the top thereof, for cooperation with the guide edge 23. The front member 20 is provided with a door opening 25 at one side thereof, which isadapted to be closed by means of the solid door 26 sliding in the guide edge 23 and the guide strip 24. A second door 27 is slidably mounted in the guide edge 23 and the guide strip 24, said door 27 having elongated openings 28 to allow entrance of light and air to the coop when the door 27 is in position in front of the door opening 25. The movement of the doors 26 and 27 is limited by means of the stops 29 formed by bending portions of the guide edge 23 in the path of movement of said doors. The rear member 30 has its vertical edges 31 turned back for sliding engagement over the vertical rear edges of the sides 11 and the upper portion 32 of said such manner as to allow free circulation of air therethrough without the liability of entrance of rain. It will further be evident that when assembled, a strong and secure joint is produced between the members thus making it strong and durable and cheap to manufacture. Furthermore, the parts may be readily disconnected for cleansing and other purposes.

It will be apparent that minor changes in the details of construction may be made if desired without in the slightest degree departing from the spirit of my invention.

\Vhat I claim is l. A coop comprising the combination of a top and side members formed in one piece with the lower edges of the side members rolled inwardly while the vertical edges thereof are directed outwardly, a removable bottom member having rolled side edges for engagement in the rolled edges of'the side members while the front and rear edges of the bottom-member are turned at right angles, and movable front and rear members engaged on the outwardly directed vertical edges of the side members and against the turned edges of the bottom member while the upper portions of said front and rear members are bent inwardly and upwardly and extend inwardly of the front and rear edges of the roof.

2. In a coop, the combination of a roof having its slanting edges turned downwardly, side members integral with the top member, front and rear members carried upon the vertical edges of the side members and having inwardly directed upper portions for engagement inwardly of the downwardly bent slanting edges of the roof, and

a bottom member removablycarried in the 7 lower edges of the side'mem'bers.
