This invention relates to lock structures and has for its primary object the provision of new, novel and cheaply constructed mechanism and parts for locks of various types and styles that will preclude moving the primary bolt 0f the same to the unlocked position by unauthorized persons or those other than the ones holding the key for the particular'lock within which has been placed devices made in accordance with the broad concepts of the present invention.

parts made in accordance with this invention may be modified as to form and specific structure, and the materials used to make up the novel parts of this look may be stamped,
cast, pressed, orotherwise formed in a manner to render the lock structure cheap to make and efiectivein operation, as well as easy to assemble. v j I It is understood that many forms of picking'is practiced when unauthorized persons move locks of the commercial type to the unlocked positionwithout the use of a proper key. lOneof the most common, is the introduction of an'instrument of some sort to the primary bolt to move it to the unlocked position against the normal holding action of t the standard parts now used. As a result of this understanding, itfis the object oftliis invention to supply broad novel means for precludingsuchqaction. vObjects of a more important nature such as the combination of parts in an effective manner will also appear during the specification. Like reference characters refer to similar parts of the lock throughout the several views of the drawings, and the numerals 4. and 6 indicate adoor and door casing respectively, and 8 indicates the ordinary modern'type of molding against whichthe door 4' stops when the same is in a position to be locked. The lock structure here shown 1510f the mortise type, but it is understood that any style might be constructed to embody the advantages, details and structure of the presentinvention. Thecasing 10 houses the working partsof the lock, and the same may consist of a primary bolt 12 which is actuated by a spring or the like 14 to the projected or locked position as shown in Fig. 1. The forward or looking end of primarybolt 12 has a pas-. sage 16 formed therein which communicates with an opening 18 and slot 20. Primary bolt 12 is supported for sliding movement by the ears 22 formed as a part of casing 10 as well as by the opening through the front of casing 10. Opening 24 should register with a similar hole 26'formed through strike plate 28 secured to door casing 6, and when the primary bolt of the lock is disposed in the locked position, it. should pass throughboth opening 24 and hole 26. Y A plunger 30 should be slidably mounted for reciprocating movement in ;openi ng 16, through the use of a pin 32 and slots 34 formed in the side of primary bolt 12. "As shown in Fig. 2-, the pin 32 extends beyond the sides of bolt 12 to be-engaged by-a spring 36 which constantly urges plunger 30 toward the outer end of primary bolt 12. Forming apart of plunger assembly is therearwardly and'upwardly extending arm38 which has a locking portion 40 formed thereon as illus- -trated in Figs.*1 and 3. This locking portion 40 should consist ofa plurality of lugsformed as shown'which aremoved between theen'd member 42 of primary bolt 12 and the,

In a lock structure, a primary bolt, a plunger slidably housed therein, a lock lug, a locking portion formed by said plunger, and means for moving the plunger against the lock lug as said primary bolt is being disposed to locking position to lock said primary bolt against movement, said means including a stationary strike plate member projecting into said primary bolt and engaging the said plunger therein When the structure is in the locking position.
