NT @EME ORION T. DOzIER, OE MAPLE GROVE, AssIGNOR OE ONE-HALE OE Hrs RIGHT To GEORGE E. EEARrNG, OE OHEROKEE COUNTY, ALA.
.IMPR'OVEMENT IN HAMES FOR HARNESS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,056, det-ea December 5, 1876; eppncation filed October 10, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORION T. DOZIER, of Maple Grove, in the county ot' Cherokee and State Ot' Alabama, have inventedl certain new landuseful Improvement-s in Haines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reti erence being had tothe accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part ot' this specification.
My invention relates to haines; and it consists in the construction and arrangement ot' an adjustable device for attaching the hametug, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. ln order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and Operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in'which- Figure l is a view ofthe llame with the tug-plate in position. Fig. 2 is a perspective View Ot' the adjustable tug-plate.
Y A represents an ordinary wooden haine, constructed in 4the usual manner. B. is a metal plate, of suitable dimensions, formed with a hook, C, at one end, and the other end bent, as shown at D, to tit around the inner edge 0l" the hamc, the under flange d entering a recess, a, cut in theunder side at the inner edge of the haine. In the body of the plate B are made two holes, bv b, with slots b b', as seen fully in Fig. 2, and in the haine are fast ened a series o1' screws, headed pins, or staples, z' i, at equal distances apart, and the same distance as the distance between the whichslotted holes in the plate B. The plate B is attached to the llame A by allowing any two of' the pins t' to pass through the holes b, and
then drawing said plate outward, so that the stems or shanks ot' the headed pins pass into the slots b', and the part D of the plate fits around the inner edge of the hame. The haine-tug is to be attached on the hook C. The plate B can bc moved up and down on the haine, as required, to properly adjust the traces, and the plate is looked in its place by means of an L-shaped latch, G, pivoted on the plate and turned down against the headed pins or screws t' i, as shown in Fig. l.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is y l. The combination of' a haine, A, provided with a series of headed pins, t', and the plate or loggerhead B, provided with the hook'O and holes b b, with slots b' b', substautiallyas and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination ot' the plate B, provided with bent end D, flange d, slotted'holes b b', and hook O, and the haine A, provided with the recess a and headed pins z', substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
3. The L-shaped latch G, in combination e with the plate B and llame A, as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I afix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
ORION T. DOZIEB. Witnesses: e
