This invention relates tocertain new and useful improvements in a combined window. shade and curtain rod holder and has for its primary object to provide a combination bracket slidably mounted upon an extensible window frame attached member with the brackets struck from a single piece of sheet material and having portions cut" out and bent away to provide mounting arms for the bracket, arms for the shade roller and a plurality of spaced fingers for an extensible curtain rod.

With the above and other objects in view that-will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully' described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the combined window shade and curtain rod holder;

Figure 2 is a top plan View of the same, showing the extensible mounting strip on which the brackets are slidably mounted and also showing the extensible curtain rod;

Figure 3 is a rear elevational view showing the gripping fingers carried by the combination bracket engaged with the mounting strip;

Figure 4 is a cross-sectional View taken on line 44 of Figure 1; and

Figure 5 is a perspective View of one of the combination brackets. i

The mounting strip for the shade roller and curtain rod bracket is formed of sections 1 of the form illustrated in cross-section in Figure 4, one section being larger than the 4 other to provide for telescopic engagement therebetween and said strip sections are placed with closed sides thereof in fiat engagement with the head bar of a window frame and there retained by the fastening 4 devices 2.

, The combination bracket for supporting the window shade roller'and curtain rod as shown more clearly in Figure 5 is struck from a single piece of sheet material, such as sheet metal'or the like and comprises a base-section 3 having an angle arm 4 projecting at right angles from one end thereof and provided with an opening 5 at its outer end for supporting a shade roller. The connection between the brackets and mounting strip 1 inclu des fingers 6 arranged in opposed relation at the upper and lower edges of the base section 3 of the bracket and at opposite ends thereof as illustrated, the fingers 6 embracing the upper and lower edges of the strip 1 as shown in Figure 4 and being frictionally engaged therewith, the bracket is effectively retained in set position upon the mounting strip.

The curtain rod is of a conventional type comprising telescopic sections 7 of a form simlar to the strip sections 1, the outer ends of the curtain rod sections being angularly bent as shown in Figure2 and having openings 8 in the upper and lower sides thereof to, be received on supporting fingers 9 carried by the base section 3 of the bracket. The supporting fingers 9 areformed at the extreme upper edge of the base section 3 and comprise horizontal sections projecting perpendicularly from the base section 3 and terminal ver tical sections to be received in the openings 8 V in the curtain rod. When the curtain rod is assembled on the selected one of the fingers 9, that portion of the rod beyond the opening 8 rests upon the horizontal section of the supporting pin and affords a further brace for the curtain rod. By the provision of a plurality of spaced supporting fingers 9, the curthereof.

From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent, and while there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What I claim as new is A window shade and curtain rod holder bracket, consisting of a plate having a rod supporting arm projecting at right angles to the plate at one end thereof; having also spaced pairs of introverted clamping flanges on its upper and lower edges, and L-shaped fingers projecting inwardly and upwardly and at the same side of the plate as the supporting arm, the clamping flanges being slidable on a support for a curtain rod and the L-shaped fingers arranged and adaptedto be attached to the curtain supporting rod, the bracket being stamped of a single integral section.
