To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EUGENEiHAYWARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sturgis, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Shade and Curtain Holder; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appert-ains'to make and use the same.

This invention relates to shade and ourtain holders, and has for an object to provide .a device of this character in which shades and curtainsof various lengths may be secured. v Another object of the invention is to pro-. vide a clamping means in which curtains of lace or other easily destructible fabric may be readily inserted and removed without tearing orotherwise injuring the curtain.

Another object of the invention is to provide a plurality of interchangeable resilient clamping means telescoping within each other to permit of their ready adjustment for use with curtains of various sizes.

With the foregoing and other objects in View the invention consists of certain novel features ofconstruction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described and iparticularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Each of said sections preferably has a body portion 17 formed with resilient side walls 18, having their edges bent inwardly and upwardly to reinforce the said Walls, and a projecting tongue 19 of sufiicient breadth to. extend betweenthe inturned edges of the side walls of another of said sections and loosely fit the same. The said sections are similarly shaped and are preferably formed with a straight portion 20 having a curved end 21., Inthe tongue of each section adjacent the curved end 21 is provided an aperture 22, for the reception of the arm or hook 15 of the bracket 8. It will thus be; apparent that two of said sections may be used together as extensible clamping members, the resilient sides of each-allowing the insertion of the body portion andtongue' of onesection into the body portion and tongue of the other section, the resiliency of the side portions 20 permitting a telescopic movement of the one Within the other. In practice, two of said sections are combined with the straight portions of each adjusted so that the apertures 22 of the curved ends of each fit over the hook 15 of the bracket 8. The pintles 13 of the shade roller may be 7 inserted into the slots or apertures 12 of the bracket arms 11 at any time without regard to the position of the curtain 7, and the bracket 8 may be adjusted to any desired point on the window 'frame to receive the pintles 13 of shades of different lengths, the clamping members for the curtains being readily extensible to correspond with the adjusted position of the bracket 8.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.-

Various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as defined in the appended 0 mm.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to claim by Letters- Patent is:
