DILLON, OF FLORENCE, COLORADO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO CI'II-LRQLES M. SMITH, OF FLORENCE, COLORADO, AND ONE-HALF TO NELLIE M. DILLON COMBINATION COAT AND PANTS HANGER Application filed November 13, 1930. Serial No. 495,510.
The present invention relates to a combination coat and pants hanger and aims to provide a structure which is simple, easy to manipulate, thoroughly efficient and reliable in use, inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which Figure 2 is a perspective view of the pants engaging element.
' Referring to the be seen that the coat hanger is formed in the present instance from a single strand of wire or the like to provide a straight cross rod 5 merging at its ends into downwardly directed loops 6 which merge into upstanding ends 7 which in turn merges to upwardly converging shoulder extensions 8 one of which terminates in a hook 9 and the other of which terminates in a coil 10 about the shank of the hook 9. Numerals 11 denote springs hav ing ends engaged in the loops 6. Pants engaging elements are denoted generally by the letter P. Each element P comprises a pair of substantially spaced parallel coextensive V-shaped sides including longer legs 12 and shorter legs 14. The shorter legs 14 'merge into the ends of a convolute 15. The springs 11 are engaged with the convolute 15. The inner sides of the legs 12 are serrated as indicated at 16. The legs 12 are adapted to extend into the ends of the pants legs as is indicated to advantage by the dotted line showdrawings in detail a will The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. Itwill be apparent that changes in thedetails of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted of the invention as hereinafter claimed or 'sacrificing'any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what 7 1 I claim as new is: v
1. In combination, a coat hanger having depending loop extensions at the endsthereof, springs engaged with the extensions and to without departing from the spirit or scope pants leg engaging elements on the springs,
each element comprising a pair of spaced parallel coextensive V-shaped side members connected together by a convolute, the convolutes of the elements being engaged with the sprlngs.
2. I11 combination, a coat hanger having depending loop extensions at the ends there- ,of, springs engaged with the extensions and pants leg engaging elements on the springs, each element comprislng a pa1r of spaced parallel coextensive V-shaped side members connected together by a convolute, the convolutes of the elements being engaged with the springs and the free limbs of said side members being serrated on their inner edges to engage the garment. r
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
