UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDRE? FLIEGER, OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
PANTS-HANG ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,102, dated October 19, 1886.
Application filed February 24, 1886. Serial N0.193,012. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ANDREW FLIEGER, of Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented a new and Improved Pants-Hanger, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to the construction of a simple, cheap, and durable apparatus to be used for the purpose of suspending pants, the object being to provide a suspender or hanger, by the use of which quite a number of pairs of pants can be suspended from a single short hook in a manner that will prevent the pants from becoming wrinkled or pulled out of shape.
The invention consists of a yoke provided with a central hook, and with two pairs of auxiliary hooks, the arrangement and construction of which will be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which my improved form of pants hanger is represented in connection with a pair of pants, the pants being shown in the position they assume when in use.
In constructing such a hanger as is illustrated in the drawings above referred to, I take a stout piece of wire, A, and twist it in the middle, so as to form an eye, a. Upon either side of this eye a the wire A is bent to form a series of loops, 1) b b, and the extreme ends of the Wires are bent over to form stops 0. A hook, B, is secured within the eye a. Upon each extending length of the wire A, I arrange a pair of hooks, as O or 0, each pair of hooks consisting of a piece of wire twisted in the middle to form eyes d. Just below the twisted portion both ends of the wires 0 are carried 40 outward at right angles to the said twisted portion, and then bent downward at right angles to run parallel with said twisted portion, the extreme ends of each leg se formed being bent upward to form hooks e e.
In using such an apparatus as has been de- 4 5 scribed the hooks e e of the double hook G are caught upon the two forward suspender-buttons, the pants having been folded inward, as shown, while the hooks e e of the double hook C are caught upon the two back suspenderbuttons. The eyes (Z are then moved into engagement with such of the loops 1) as will cause the pants to be smoothlyheld. After the pants have been suspended from the hooks (l O the hook B may be caught upon a peg, D, secured 5 to the side or rack in position to allow the pants to hang in the manner illustrated .in the drawing.
\Vith the form of hanger described a number of pairs of pants maybe hung upon a peg Go or hook not more than six inches in length, and no matter how long they are so suspended they will not wrinkle or break.
Another advantage arising from the use of the hanger described is that the tailor will be able to judge whether the pants are properly balanced and whether the legs are both the same length.
Having thus full y described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v The combination, with a wire, A, provided with a hook, B, and bent to form an eye, a, loops 1) b, and stops 0, of two pairs of hooks, O 0, consisting of wire bent to form eyes (1 d, 7 5 and hooks e e, substantially as described.
