Description

April 29, 1947. E. EARL GARMENT HAI IGER Filed Nqv. 19, 1945 Patented Apr. 29, 1947 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
My invention as described herein, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, consists of a trouser or other garment hanger, an object of which is to provide attachable clips for a coat hanger.
Another object of my invention is to provide a coat hanger having adjustable garment hanger clips on each end thereof.
A further object of this invention is to provide a coat hanger provided with detachable hanger clips on the ends thereof.
Another object of my invention is to provide a pair of garment hanger clips attachable to a coat hanger, said clips having diverging hooks on each end thereof whereby two garments may be hung therefrom.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of my garment hanger,
Figure 2 is an end elevational view of a broken away end of a coat hanger,
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a hanger clip, and
Figure 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of Figure 1.
While one embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise, without in any way departing from the spirit and intention of my device which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while I have stated the primary field of utility of my invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the accompanying drawings and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which 10 refers to my invention and H indicates acoat hanger to eachend l2 and I3 of which is slidably and removably attached a pair of trouser or shirt hanger clips l4 of identical formation. The clip [4 is formed from a single piece of wire l5 which starting from end 16 is shaped to form a hook I1, from which extends a spring arm l8, terminating at the under surface IQ of the end 20 of the bar 20' of the coat hanger II, from where it projects up vertically along the side 2| of said end and is turned over to the center 22 of the top 23 of the said bar from which point it extends rearwardly as at 24 upon the top of said bar to the point 25, where it is turned down at right angles along the side of the bar, extends there-under as at 26 to the side 21 of the bar and is then bent up again as at 28 along the side 21 of the bar to the top thereof where it is turned at right angles as at 29 to parallel the portion 24, and is inclined to the center 22 to meet the end 3! of said portion 24, after which it is turned down as at 3| to the side 21 of the bar l2 and along said side to the point 32, from whence it inclines outwardly to form a spring arm 33 terminating in a hook 34. Both of the hooks I1 and 34 are spread beyond the plane of the sides 2| and '21, and to both of each hooks one side of the garment may be attached or to which two garments may be attached, the other sides of said garments being secured to complementary hooks on the reverse end of the member II.
In Figur 4, I show a modification of the invention in which the clip member 35, is identically formed as the member [4. However, the depending spring arm 36 terminates in a right angularly disposed supporting hook 31, the other end of the wire forming this form of the invention terminating at 38.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
A garment hanger including a supporting bar of substantially rectangular shape in cross section, a suspending hook secured to said bar midway of its length, garment supporting clips slidably disposed on the opposite ends of said bar, each clip having a loop formed at its inner end adapted to extend under said bar and upwardly at, the opposite sides thereof, the sides of each loop being bent inwardly to overlie and extend in parallel spaced relation along the top of said bar, the outer ends of said parallel extending portions being bent outwardly and downwardly to REFERENCES CITED overlie the top and opposite sides of the bar, with The following references are of record m the the lower ends of the side portions being bent fil f hi 8 inwardly to extend under said bar and terminate o t S pat n ing in outwardly extending depending shanks 5 UNITED STATES PATENTS having engaging hooks on their ends.
