This invention relates to a shield for the buckles ot garters, the general object ot the ii'iiention beingI to provide means tor coverin@` the buckles and stocking engaging:y menihere ot a garter so .as to prevent these parte from injuring other garments, such as by causing; runs in silk bloomers or the like.

'lfhis invention also consists in certain other :tentures et construction and in the combination and arrangement oit the parte, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the acj company/ing drawings andspeciiieally pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing the invention in detail, reterence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view of a portion of the gan nient supporter showing' the invention in use.

The shield B consists ot an elongated strip of any suitable material and tapers from its upper end to its lower end, with its upper end suitably sewn to the part 8 of the garter, and in such a manner that the shield covers the stocking` ei'ig'aging member 3, and its loop 3 so as to prevent these portions from coniing into contact with the garment to injure the saine.

The lower end of the stocking enga-ging? member is formed with the fastening` parte 9 tor engaging' the tast-ening;` parts l0 on the lower end ot the shield B so as to detachably connect the lower end ot the shield B with the lower end of the member 3.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that I have provided simple forms of shields for the buckles and stocking` engaging,` parts ot' a garter, which can be easily and quickly adjusted to a position where the parte are accessible, and then easily and quickly placed in a position to cover such parte to prevent such parts from contacting the blooiners or other wearing' apparel.

It is thought 'from the foregoing' descrip tion that the advantages and novel features oit the invention will be readily apparent.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangen'ient ot the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope ot' the appended claim.

Having' thus described my invention, what I claim as new is In combination with a buckle ot a `garter, a shield having; one end connected with a part of the garter, said shield passino; around the `garter and the buckle and means for detachably connecting the Jfree end ot the shield to the other end thereof.
