Patented Qct. 27, 1931 UNrrED STATES Lazare JAMES F. HIXON, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA CIGAR AND CIGARETTE HOLDER Application filed July 12,
This invention relates to cigar and cigarette holders.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a receptacle for holding cigars and cigarettes in which the cigars and cigarettes can conveniently be stacked and individually be removed. i
Another object of the invention is to provide a receptacle in which the 'cigars and cigarettes are separately stacked.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind having a shelf for horizontally holding a stack of cigarettes and a holder for vertically holding several cigars. Y V
Still another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having a separate compartment for holding the cigarettes and cigars and a removable top and a hinged door for giving separate access to the said compartments.
Gther objects will appear as the disclosure progresses. rllhe drawings are intended to merely indicate a possible embodiment of the invention. It is obvious that the actual needs of manufacture may necessitate certain mechanical changes. It is therefore not intended to limit the invention to the embodiment illustrated but rather to define such o limits in the appended claim. For a more vgeneral understanding of the invention attention is called to the drawings. In these drawings like reference characters denote like parts throughout the specification.
Figure 1 is a front view of the cigar holder.
Figure 2 is a similar view as Figure l with the door partly broken away.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a section on line L.1 -4 of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a section on line 5 5 of Figure 3. Y
Figure 6 is a section on line 6 6 of Figure 3.
Figure 7 is a section on line 7 7 of Figure 3.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, numeral 1 designates the casing of the device, 2 the hinged door and 3 the removable 1930. Serial No. 467,583.
roof. Within the casing is an inclined shelf 4 for holding a pile of cigarettes 5. The shelf is provided with a cut-out portion 6 in the center leaving room for the fingers to take hold of an individual cigarette.
At the bottom of the casing is a holder 7 provided with holes 8 for holding the cigars 9 in an upright position. The underside of the roof as noted in Figures 6 and 7 is provided with cross pieces 10 and 11. Permanently attached to the cross piece 11 is a pin 12 which is adapted to enter a hole 13 in the rear wall of the casing as noted in Figure 3. The cross piece 10 is also provided with a hole 14 which registers with a hole 15 in the front wail of the casing through which a pin 16 is adapted to enter. The end of the pin resiliently engages with the under side of the roof and is thereby kept from becoming loose. To remove the roof the pin 16 is extracted and the roof moved to the left until the rear pin 12 is out of engagement with the hole 13. The pin 12 is permanently attached to the cross piece 11 and roof while the pin 16 can be entirely removed from its place. At the floor of the casing is a. sheet of abrasive material 17 on which to strike a match. The door 2 is made of three board members fastened together by the braces 18. Numeral 19 designates the door hinges and 20 the knob. 8C
Having described my invention, I claim as new Claim:
In a cigar and cigarette holder of the class described, a casing provided with an upper S and lower compartment, the ioor of said upper compartment sloping downwardly towards vthe rear and provided with a cut-out portion, and a hinged door providing access to both of said compartments, the upper compartment 9 including a front wall member, the bottom edge of said wall member being spaced above the top of said sloping floor and forming'a passage for the cigarettes, the top edge of said hinged door extending above said sloping floor and substantially abutting the said bottom edge of said front wall member.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
JAMES F. I-IIXON.
