' momma N. PETERS PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D c.
UNITED STATES DUNCAN MOMILLAN, OF DODGE CENTRE, MINNESOTA.
IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS-LCOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182,125, dated September 12, 1876; application filed May 16, 1876. a
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DUNCAN MCMILLAN, of Dodge Centre, Dodge county, Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Loop for Harness, of which the following is a specification My invention consists of a double metal loop-fastener, adapted to fasten two loops in hame, breast, holdback, breeching, and other straps to rings and buckles without sewing the strap-loops, as they are commonly done.
Figure l is a plan view of my improved loop and straps and buckles secured by it; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on line a: m, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the top bar; B, the middle bar; 0, the bottom bar, connected by side bars D, formin ,9; my improved metal loop for the fastening of ring-strap loop E and buckle-strap loop F by a rivet or tack, G, in lieu of sewing them as is commonly done. Both members of the loop E are passed between the bars B and G of the metal loop, and the end H is passed back between said members and through the metal loop, after passing through the buckle, and is fastened through the upper member to the bar B, and the tongue J of the buckle-strap is confined by passing through the metal loop between bars A and B. K represents a ring in a hame, breeching, or other strap, and L the buckle of the same.
By this arrangement a loop of superior strength and elegance is obtained at less cost than the common arrangement Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of bars A B 0, connected by bars D with the rivets G, as shown and described, for the purpose of holding straploops E F, as set forth.
DUNCAN MGMILLAN.
