. The object of my inventionis to provide a simple and inexpensive unitary structure] which may be manufactured in a singleop eration by either'casting or stamping it from metal,is adapted to'prevent rattling of. a Win- 'dow and at the same-time secure it"inany desired position, thus preventing movement in either direction.
7 -F or ang-understanding of theinvention,
referencefshonl d be had to the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and its novel features will be pointed outwith particularity in the ap- 1 pended claims.
In the drawing, Figure 1' is a top or plan view'of the device; and Figure 2 is a side elevation of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing, 10 is a flattened non-circularbodyf. member provided with a pivot opening 11 therein for the purpose of attaching the device to the window sash 12.
This may be done by any well known means,
1 such as a screw 15 shown in Figure 2. The
shape of the flattened member-is shown in the drawing asbeing'a rectangle having 'c oncave arcuate sides-l9 with'th'e outer portions 13 curved, it being substantially I shaped in a plan. The outer portions 13 are rounded f, transversely and are of uniform bevelthroughouttheir entire width to form knife edges. which areadapted to fit tightly under the window stop 1% by a wedging action when device andmay be made integralfivith. the
body member 10, or it may be a separate piece j of metal rigidly secured to the body. member inany well known mannerto form a unitary structure. :The working surfaces of said pro jecting' members 16have contacting surfaces 18 which are contiguous to the outer beveled ends 13 for effectively engaging the window 1 V a Schenectady "and. State ofLNewyYork, this stop 14:. r v In operating the device, the projecting members 16 are rotated away from the veri ticalposition so that 'onevof the contacting 7 against the stop l4r, iwedging the sash in its frame to prevent any rattling thereof;

7 1.;Acombined window latch and anti-:
rattler device adapted to'be fastened to a win dow sash, comprising-a pivotednon-circular 5 flattened body member, said member having aim beveled knife shaped end for j engagement with the window sash and its stop to prevent rattlingof. the window wheninposition, and 1 an upwardly projectinggmember having contacting surface? adapted to 'simultaneously engage the window stop to latch the win-. dow inanydesired'position, y r j 2. As an [article of manufacture, a com bined window latch and antirattler adapted to; be fastened to a wind ow sash, comprising a pivoted body member that is shaped plan and provided with wedge-shaped bevelled, ends rounded transversely and of; uniform bevel throughout their entire width dow sash and stop to prevent rattling of the sash, and upwardly extending projecting memberswon said bodyprovided with contacting surfaces contiguous to said bevelled edges and arranged'sovthat one 'of saidprojecting members will conta'ct with said win i dow'stop to simultaneouslylatch the window p in; a-Iset positionwhen transverse movement of-the sash 1s prevented by its contiguous Signed J at Schenectady, in the county of 1 21st day ofDecember,1929. -f I V V. i j' JACOB
