Description

N. NELSON.
BABY-WALKER.
No.173.548. Patented. June13, 1876,
WITNEEEEE' 732% N, PETERS. PHDTO-LITHQGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D C.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGE NELS NELSON, OF WAUPAGA, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEME NT IN BABV-WALKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. P785418, dated June 13, 1876; application filed April 27, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, N ELs NELSON, of Waupaca, in the county of Waupaca and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ohilds Walking- Uhairs, of which the following is'a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a childs walkingchair, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, in which Figure l is a longitudinal vertical section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same through line a: m, Fig. l.
A represents a rectangular frame of any suitable dimensions, provided with a leg, B, in each corner, said legs having casters G on their lower ends. The frame A is surrounded by an adjustable frame, I), fastened thereto by means of bolts b and thumb-nuts d, the bolts passing through vertical slots a in the sides of the inner frame A, as shown. In
the exterior frame D are two boards, G G,
meeting in the center, and having a central circular aperture cut thereinthat is to say, one half of said aperture is cut in each board. The board G is stationary, while the board G is movable, sliding through the side of the frame. When closed it is held by a catch, h, as shown in Fig. 1.
It will thus be seen that the chair, as constructed, can be adjusted to the height of the child, and the child be held therein and prevented from falling while learning to walk.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the frame A, having slots to, and supported upon the legs B, with casters 0, the adjustable frame D, with stationary and movable boards G G, having central aperture, and the adjusting-bolts b, with thumb-nuts d, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
NELS NELSON.
