This invention relates to a watch strap end member commonly called an end hook for connecting the strap to the lug of a wrist watch, and has for its object to provide'a simple and eifective connection between the watch strap and the end member so that end members of varying widths may be interchanged as desired to lit the lugs of different watches.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a tip on the end of a strap with an interchangeable connection between the tip and the endmember for interchanging y members of varying widths to iitdiii'erent wrist watch lugs as desired.

A still further object of this inventionis the provision of a tongue and eye connection between the strap tip and the end member with the tongue so formed that it may be passed through the eye, and folded to forma back wall of the portion with which it 1s integrally attached.

l/Vith these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

of carryingcomplete bracelets with varying sizes of end members I have provided a means by which the end members alone may be easily interchanged so that the retail jeweler may fit the correct end member to the customers watch and then easily attach this end member to the wrist band by the simple bending of a tongue into position by manual manipulation or with the assistance of a pair of pliers and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of this invention illustrating'the preferred means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished.

The end member may be of any of the desired forms to be secured to a watch casing; that which I have illustrated has a body 13, with an extended shank 14 formed into a hook 15, with a tongue 16 pivotally mounted at 17 between the side walls 18 of the body of the end member. The tongue is provided with the nger piece 19 to lift tongue for detaching purposes, while suitable spring means are provided to hold the tongue in the position illustrated in Fig. 2. n

An eye 2O is formed on the end member through which there extends the tongue 2l of the tip 22, the tip being attached permanently to the strap 23 by means of a suitable clainp consisting of strap engaging pieces 24 and arms 25 folded thereover to force the same into engagement therewith.

The tip 22 is reduced as at 26 and the end member l2 is likewise reduced as at 27 so that these reduced parts at their junctures will be of equal width, regardless of the width of the strap or shank portion 14 of the end inem` bers for the varying assortment of wrist watch lugsv which will be carried' by the jeweler. The reduced portion 27 is always of a width to cooperate with an equal width of the reduced portion 26 of the tip and'conform to the arc of a circle 28 on either side thereof, and enhance the appearance of the device.

The'tongue 21 extends from the reduced portion 26 and the eye 2O is also formed on this portion which portions are of a standard vsize and will always properly cooperate one Y with the other. The tongue 21 after being passed` through the eye is folded between the side walls 29 of the tip which is of a width substantially the space between these side walls and forms a bottom wall in its position 3.0 in Figure 2 so that ajneat appearance of t ie assembly is provided.

2. ln combination with a wrist watch strap, a tip, means for squeezing portions of the tip against opposite faces of the strap to clamp n the same on Athe end of the strap, said tip having a reduced extremity, and a bendable tongue extendingtherefrom, an end member adapted to be secured to the lug of a wrist watch having watch bail engaging means at one end and a reduced portion at the other 40 end of the size of the reduced extremity of said tip withv an eye therein, said tongue being inserted through said eye and bent rearwardly contiguous to the tip to detachably secure said tip and end member together.

8. ln combination with a wrist watch strap, a tip, means for squeezing portions of the tip l against opposite faces of the strap to clamp the saine on the end of the strap, said tip having side walls and a bendable tongue eX- 5'0 tending therefrom of a width substantially equal to the distance between said side walls, an end member adapted to be secured to the lug of a wrist watch having an eyeto receive said tongue, said tongue being bendable through said eye and rearwardly between'said walls to substantially close the space therebetween and to form a portion of a back wall for said tip, said tip and end member havingr their contiguous portions of soafsimilar width and formed to simulate an integral device.
