Description

G. D. HARRlSQN- WRIST WATCH BRACELET Filed Feb. 9, 1924 Patented June 9, 1925;
umrsosmrss PATENT ori ice.
GEORGE D. HARRISON, 0E N OBTH ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOP T0 PROVE; DENCE STOCK COMPANY, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
WRIST-WATCH BRACELET.
Application filed February 9, 1924. Serial nofeen zso.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonen D. HAnRIsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVrist- Watch Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful. improvements in wrist watch bracelets and the primary object thereof is to provide a bracelet which is of simple and economical construction, wherein the links are strung on a flexible band and retained in close end to end relation without being interconnected so as to present the appearance of a bracelet with interconnected links.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bracelet which has spring tensioned and slidable watch engagingclasps at its ends so as to allow the bracelet to be easilyapplied .to and removed from the wrist and to also provide novel means for connecting the clasps to the bracelet.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a mesh fabric carrier for the links and to provide novel means for securing the end links to the fabric.
The invention has still further andother objects which will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings:
Figure l, is a side edge elevation of the invention, a
Figure 2, is a top plan view; a
Figure '3, is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional View of one end of the bracelet.
Figure 4, is a section on line 44 of Figure 3.
Figure 5, is a detail perspective view of one of the end links showing the solder plug therein.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a mesh fabric band or strip 1 is employed upon which are strung the links 2, the latter being preferably of box form as illustrated, although other shapes may be employed, if desired.
The links are arranged in end to end abutting relation and are free'of any interconnection, and due to the flexible nature of the mesh fabric band, the bracelet is renwith outwardly extending stops 4. Slidable clasps 5 are mounted on the end links 3 and have inturned end portions 6 for engagement with the stops 4 to limit outward movement of the clasps. The outer ends of the clasps are formed with hooks 7. to en gage the usual loops 8 of the wrist watch W. The clasps have pivoted spring tensioned catches 9 provided with finger engaging parts 10 so as to enable operation of the catches in order to release the same from the watch loops'8.
Coil springs 11 are connected at one end by means of pins 12 to the clasps 5 and extend through the interiors of the links 3. The opposite endsof spring 11 are secured to pieces of solder 13 which latter are poured in a molten state in openings 14 formed in the inner side faces of the end links, the solder entering the interstices of the mesh fabric at the ends of the'band 1 to thus anchor the end links to the mesh fabric band. The solder thus functions in a dual manner, namely to anchor the inner ends of the springs and to connect the links to the mesh fabric band.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 2- 1. In a bracelet, a mesh fabric band, a hollow link on the band at one end thereof having an aperture in a wall thereof, a clasp slidably connected to the link, a spring having one end connected to the clasp, the other end of the spring and a part of the mesh fabric band being in register with the aperture, and solder in the aperture embracing the said other end of the spring and extending through the interstices of the mesh fabric band to anchor both the spring and the band to the link.
2. In a bracelet, a mesh fabric band, a hollow link 011 the band at one end thereof having an aperture in the inner sidewall thereof, a. clasp slidably connected to the link, a spring in the link for tensioning the clasp having one end connected to the latter, the other end of the spring and a part of the mesh fabric band extending In testimony whereof I have signed my across the aperture, and a plug of solder name to this specification in the presence of I!) fillingf C1116 aperture and surrounding the two subscribing Witnesses.
aart 0 tie sprin in register with the a er- 5 ture and extendihg through the interst ices GEORGE HARRISON of the mesh fabric band adjacent to the WVitnesses: opening to anchor both the spring and the E. J. BANKS, band to the link. NELLIE A. CARRI.
