Description
Feb. 17. 1925.
C. FEID BRACELET Filed July 19, 1923 Patented Feb. 17, 1925.
UNITED STATES CHARLES FEID, OF NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO BUGBEE 6c NILES COMPANY, vOF NORTH ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS.
BRACELET.
Application filed July 19,
" thereof and for also limiting expansion and `to further provide a bracelet having end portions connected by spring means which is encased by an ornamental housing.
The invention still further aims to provide a simple, and compact structure and one which can be economically produced.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation.
Figure 2 is a section on lin-e 2--2 ot' Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Figure 2, and
Figure 4 is a section on line 4.-4 of Figure' 1.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a bracelet is shown havin end portions 1 and Q which are provided with the usual clasps (not shown) that are formed to engage the usual loops on opposite sides of a wrist watch. However, it is to be expressly understood that the invention is not restricted to wrist watch use, but is suscepti-ble to all uses to which a bracelet or similar structure may be put.
The said ends of the bracelet are slidably received in a curved housing 4 which is depicted as of approximate rectangular crosssection to agree with that of the two bracelet sections. However, the invention is not limited in this regard to the shapes illustrated.
The spring means include a pair of parallel coil springs 5 and 6 connected at their opposite ends to the ends 1 and 2. In order to restrict the extent 0f Outward. movement 1923. Serial No. 652,551.
of the ends 1 and 2 relative to the housing, a chain 7 is employed connected at its ends to the'ends 1 and 2 and being in turn connected at its center to an anchor or clip 8 which latter is affixed by solder tothe housinO, central of the length of the latter.
trom the foregoing it will be seen that each end is permitted movement independent of the other, and that the housing not only affords complete concealment for the spring device, but also affords a surface which may be ornamented or decorated as desired to thus enhance the ornamental value of the bracelet.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a bracelet, wrist-encircling means having ends spaced apart, a housing slidably receiving said ends therein, a spring in the housing extending across the space between said ends and connected at its ends to the respective ends of the wrist-encircling means, a chain extending across the space between the ends of the wrist-encircling means and connected at its ends to the respective ends of the wrist-encircling means.I and means to secure the chain substantially central of its ends to a liXed point in the housing.
2. In a bracelet, wrist-encircling means having ends spaced apart, a housing slidably receiving said ends therein, a pair oi': spaced springs in the housing disposed in the sp ace between the ends of the lirst means and connected to each of said ends, a chain in the housing connected at its ends to the ends of the first means and disposed in the space between the springs, and a clip rigidly secured in the housing and projecting into the space between the springs and having the center of the chain affixed thereto. i
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence ot two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES Finn,
