Application filed November To aZZ whom it may] concern Be it known that I, Burris KING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Plainville, in the county of Norfolk and Etate of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful I mprovements in Ribbon Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain newv and useful improvements in ribbon bracelets and pertains more especially to a bracelet of the ribbon type employed to attach a watch to the wrist of the wearer.
The primary object of the invention is to provide means for attaching the bracelet to watches regardless of whether the attaching loops or eyes, which are secured to opposite sides of wrist watches for attaching purposes, are large or small, or in other words to provide watch attaclnng means which operate equally as well {in the instance ofv watches having small loops.
The invention further aims to provide means of the character mentioned which will eitectively hold the watch against accidental disengagement, and which can be cheaply constructed and easily operated and which is devoid of parts likely to become deranged.
Further and other objects will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a plan View of the invention, the watch and the ribbon being shown in dotted lines;
Figure 2 is a view of one of the attaching members showing a watch infragment and in dotted lines, with a small eye or attaching loop;
Figure 3 is a section on line 3 -3 01 Figure 1, and
Figure 4: is a like View on line' 14 of Figure 1.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, the attaching members are each composed of a base 1, slotted at 2, to receive the ribbon ends B therein, the latter being attached as usual. Extending outwardly from one side of the base 1 is a V- shaped keeper 3 which is connected to the base by arms 4, so that the keeper 3 is resiliently supported by the base so as to allow the keeper to move vertically, for a purpose shortly to be described. EX- tending outwardly from the opposite side of the base 1 are a pair of outer books 5 with short bills and an intermediate hook 6 Specification oti letters Patent. paten tefl Feb, 14 -1922 1, 1921. tion, which thus provides a structure which can be economically produced, and which is ms s'rAras PATENTF'YOFFICE' devoid of any parts that are movable, except by or through the resilient property possessed by the metal from which the device is formed. The bills of the hooks are preferably of curved cross-section as shown in Figures 3 and l, and the bill 6 laps the V-shaped keeper 8 so as to prevent accidental disengagement of the watch eye or loop when the latter is attached, aswill now be described.
Referring to Figure 1 of the drawings it will be seen that the watch V has rather long loops L on each of its opposite sides, so that each of the hooks 5-5 and 6 are engaged with the loops, the watch thus being supported on each side at three distinct points, accidental disengagement being prevented by the keepers 3, and hooks 6, each of which latter lap the keepers.
In the instance of watches which have small loops such as L inFigure 2, it will be seen that such loops are merely engaged by the hooks 6 with long bills, the loops L being disposed between the outer hooks 6. The invention thus operates with equal efficiency in the instance of watches with small attaching eyes or loops, as in those instances in which the eyes or loops are large or elongated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim. as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a. wrist watch ribbon bracelet, an attaching member composed of a base slotted to receive the ribbon and havinga V-shaped keeper connected to one side of the base by outwardly extending arms, so as tosupport the keeper for resilient movement relative to the base, and a pair of outer hooks with short bills and an intermediate hook with a long bill extending outwardly from'the opposite side of the base and toward the keeper, the intermediate hook having its long bill. lapping the nose'or apex of the keeper.
2. In a wrist watch ribbon bracelet, an attaching member composed of a base having a keeper resiliently supported by one side thereof, and a pair of outer and an intermediate hook borne by the opposite side of the base the outer hooks having bills spaced froin'the keeper, and the intermediate hook having a long bill which laps the nose' of the keeper. V
3..In a Wrist Watch ribbon bracelet, an attaching-member composed of a base having a keeper resiliently supported. by one side thereof, and spaced thereabove, and a multiplicity of hooks carried by the opposite side of the base, one of the hooks having its bill lapping the keeper, and other of the hooks being spaced from the keeper.
4 In a Wrist Watch ribbon bracelet, an attaching member composed of a base having a keeper, and a multiplicity of hooks one of which laps the keeper..
