IM PROV EMENT IN MATCH-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,776, dated May 23, 1876; application filed March 14, 1876.

A is the casing, with the sides a and I: left open, and the sides a and (1 closed. The upper sides 0 of the casing A maybe roughened,
for the purpose ofstriking a light when-the box is intended for a match-safe. B is a receptacle, with the upper ends eleft open. This receptacle is inserted in the casing A, and
pivoted thereto by the rivet f, the lower end, 9, extending somewhat outside the casing. The upper ends 6 of the receptacle B may be out ofi at any required angle, so that it may be opened more or less as desired.
It will be readily understood that the open end of the receptacle is forced out from the casing by placing the thumb upon the end g of the receptacle B, and the forefinger upon the end 0 of the casing A, and pressing the fingers together; also, that my improved box, as described, is equally serviceable for other small articles, amLI therefore do not wish to limit the use hereof solely for matches.
Havingthus described my invention, I desire to clai1n A pocket-box formed of the receptacle B.
with the open end 6 pivoted inside the casing A, with the open sides a and b, and the closed sides 0 and '01, substantially as described.
